captain jack sparrow character?

....it also had to do with royalties......to Johnny Depp- because he's the "face" of J.S. he gets paid a royalty fee every time they use his face/image etc.

Disney got tired or havign another paycheck to write.....:upsidedow

But... when there is a "Jack Sparrow" appearance in Disneyland it is NOT Johnny Depp's face. He does not own the character, only his own face. I cannot possibly believe royalties are involved there.

Well if you want to see Jack you can always come to the Renaissance Faire in the spring ;) :rotfl: The most famous and one of the best Jack's is actually a regular at the large local Renaissance, which was also the first Ren Faire in the country. Not helpful at Disneyland, but great for tourists looking for something else to do :)

Which one? I know a few very good "Jacks".

Oh and which Ren Faire?

At the very least I am glad I got the chance to see the character once while I was there. It's a shame the character isn't available anymore.

Southern Faire, but I bet the one actually went up to Northern Faire too. One of the Jack's from DL actually started his gigging in costume at faire. He is really pretty good. We all have a few favorite Jack's in the faire community and some not so good ones :lol I don't know any of them personally but know their gigs :)

BTW for years there were rumors the real Jack (yup Johnny Depp) came out to faire dressed as Jack Sparrow. No one has proven if it was more then a rumor, but years ago he did use to visit faire :)

I would think that the money thing with Jack might be true as that is why the rumor went out about Giselle not making apperances besides the parade. But who knows, it seems Jack carries with him a lot of mysteries!!! If there is another film I bet he comes back though :)

In addition to the complaints and frisky ladies..........it also had to do with royalties......to Johnny Depp- because he's the "face" of J.S. he gets paid a royalty fee every time they use his face/image etc.

I agree with this (bolded part). The Jack that we had Jerrin's picture taken with looked NOTHING like Johnny Depp. You knew it was Jack Sparrow, but in no way would you have mistaken him for Johnny Depp.:sad2:

There was a very interesting blog on mouseplanet written by a former "Jack Sparrow" who was ultimately let go by Disney after several incidences. The author did say that there were women who came to DL just to see him and would wait in line for hours to spend time with him. They would get to the front, take a picture or two and then get back to the end of the line and do it all over again. He was even offered "services" by these women, if you get my drift.

One time he was pulled into an office by management for saying, "no sh**," which baffled him because he had never used foul language. Later, he figured out that he would say "Nice ship" to passing strollers and a parent had misunderstood the comment.

Anyway, he mentioned that Tarzan didn't last either as well as Jasmine from Hunchback. Apparently, too much sex appeal doesn't last long at Disney! :headache:

I wonder if they might have Jack Sparrow out at MTOTP like they have in years past, since it is kind of a special occasion? Probably not, but it would be nice if they had him make appearances occasionally.

well everyone, i love mr. sparrows character so much i decided to voice it to disney! LOL. :lmao: i went to disneyland.com and went to contact and sent them an email asking first of all, WHY? didnt get an answer. second, voiced how many people LOVED the character and want him BACK! hehe. this is the email they replied for me. so hey, maybe if more people complain they will bring him back lol. i suggest a petition, :) seriously. i even voiced that in the email. its something i feel very strongly about. that is one of the best characters! every little boy in my family wants to meet him! and every lady too;) so i told the lady after reading this, that i was going to form together a petition, in hopes of getting so many people they will bring jack back. i will be gathering names from this board, and several others, as well as people i know personaly! i am collecting and organizing a data sheet, with first and last name, city and state of residence, and how many times you have been to DL. the ones who go many are loyal customers, and their voices should be heard! if you want to petition with me, send me a PM. with the info. you dont have to add your last name or city, an initial and state is fine if you dont wanna disclose too much. OR you can just add your screen name, and number of visits, and i will be able to put it under section for disboarders. thanks all! call me crazy, i wont say your wrong!:rotfl2:

Well, I also sat down and wrote a letter to Disney re: Jack Sparrow disappearing from the parks. While I had the form in front of me, I also voiced my opinion on limited shows (fantasmic, electrical parade) during the expo, since I was also disappointed with that. I wrote to them on Friday, but still have not received a response from them.

I remember reading that...do you still have the link? I would love to read it again - it was fascinating. The Google turns up nothing.

Thanks!
