Does anybody who has had these know if they are deveined? Also are you able to get this as an appetizer on the DDXP? I know some restaurants dont let you if the appetizer serves two.

1) The peel-and-eat shrimp are not de-veined.
2) At least not until YOU do it.

Have you had this item from the restaurant before? I will admit that even though I've eaten shrimp for as long as I can remember I've never mastered a way to devein shrimp myself without it being a huge hassle and getting everything all messy :rotfl:

. . . I've never mastered a way to devein shrimp myself . . .

1) Could be one reason that I do not eat peel-and-eat shrimp.
2) Easy to do at home when making Jumbo Shrimp dishes.
. . . break-off head
. . . hold tail and peel shell in one stroke
. . . cut along back with small scissors (eg, fingernail scissors) *
. . . pull out vein, WHILE UNDERWATER
3) Tough to do at a restaurant.

* If the tail has been removed, the vein can be grabbed and pulled
out with the fingers. Messy, but doable with practice. In a large shrimp,
there is a second "vein" which must also be removed.

I will never understand why Disney doesn't use deveined shrimp for their peel-and-eats but it has been our experience that if you see peel-and-eat shrimp on a Disney menu it will absolutely NOT be deveined.

It most likely is available on the DxDDP so long as it is being ordered for two. The reports of "for two" apps being excluded come from non Disney owned restaurants, and Captain Jacks is the only Disney owned table service at DTD.

Thanks for the info. I guess I will have to figure out if its worth the hassle to me to order the shrimp. It would be so much better if they just deveined them for you especially for the money they charge for it.

Thanks for the tip. If I order this item I will check to see if the had has been removed. Otherwise maybe I will just cut the part of the shrimp that has the vein in it off.
