Trying to decide between the 2 and have never been to either. Need to use up one more TS and am curious as to what people think of both of these. It will be myself, dd8, ds almost 5 and dm will have driven down for the day to play in the park with us. I know the restaurants are very different and have read the reviews but didn't see many current ones on another site. I love DtD and try to go each trip but dd isn't fond of it :confused3 and wouldn't care if we didn't go. I thought everyone would like the atmosphere of WC and it would give us a peek in to the WL (on the wish list to stay someday:love:) I guess I just am curious if either truly has a reputation for poor food and service--consistently. Every place has off times----we're on the ddp if it makes a difference.

We enjoyed WCC. I think your kids will really have fun there. They have stick pony races around the dinning room and there are all sorts of antics. Make sure to ask for ketchup.

The menu at Captn Jacks is very limited.

With young kids, definately go to WCC.

Captain Jack's food is not the greatest; pretty blah....

I would pick WCC. We've enjoyed it everytime we've been there. The wait staff has been hit or miss, but the canyon skillet has been pretty consistant.

Never been to Cap'n Jacks, but I would pick any restaurant (besides Hollywood & Vine) over Whispering Canyong Cafe. WCC was the second worse meal we've ever had at Disney and the service was awful (and there were no antics the night we were there -- although this had nothing to do with us not liking the restaurant).

We have been to WCC twice, most recently this January and have enjoyed it both times. The servers seem to do a good job of sensing if you want to play along with the schtick or not and we have not had any disappointing serving issues. The skillet is all we have gotten, and we like it. The cornbread is sweet and soft. The mashed potatoes are fresh with the skins in. The meats are all tasty (sometimes have a little extra fat on them, but just order more if you don't get enough meat as it is all you can eat.) The BBQ sauce is good, and they bring it to you warm in a little pitcher. I didn't eat any corn or baked beans, but my husband said it was pretty standard. I know they let you get a bottomless milkshake as your drink on the DP if you want. Oh, and we always enjoy going there because we like to visit the Wilderness Lodge lobby because it is so beautiful.
Never been to Capt. Jacks, mainly because of poor reviews.

I have been to Cap'n Jacks and I would pick another restaurant over it. There was nothing horrifically awful about it but there was nothing overly fantastic either. I have had better chowder here in NY and the kids meals were a laugh.

There are some pictures of our meals on my blog (link in my signature) under Restaurant Reviews look for Cap'n Jacks.

Good luck~:)

After making 29 trips to WDW, I can honestly tell you that Captain Jacks is the only place my family would never ever go to again. We love Whispering canyons. Have been there 3 times and try to go when ever we visit. I will tell you this however, it is definately geared to kids and families that are outgoing and loud. Not a place to go and unwind. Tons of fun, but def not quiet.

We went to both the 1st week of March. The view at Capt Jack's was lovely, but the food and atomsphere at WWC was great, very family fun oriented.

Our two daughters absolutely loved WCC and the food was outstanding with lots of variety with the family-style. My DH and I love BBQ so we enjoyed the family-style meal. Our oldest DD is picky and there was nothing on the kids' menu that tripped her trigger so the waiter was kind enough to offer several suggestions - she ended up with the mac n' cheese and loved it. Plus, they did lots of fun things - pony races, etc.

Never eaten at Capn' Jacks, but my family really enjoyed WCC. The antics were fun, the food was good. The only thing I will complain about is the service. It seemed to take forever to get our check and actually get out of there, but it was okay since there was so much going on around us. WL is such a pretty hotel to begin with, and to be honest, I used our meal there as an excuse to go over and look around!

Thank you everyone! I'm going to take Cap'n Jacks off the table (no pun intended!) and now decide between cs at DtD (I love WPE!) and WCC. Guess it'll depend on what time my mother gets to us. Thank you again!!!!
