I wonder why Cap'n Jacks is the only Downtown Disney restaurant on the Dining Option. Does anyone have any ideas. Also, do think not being on the Dining Option will hurt some of these restaurants. We have never tried
C. J.'s, but are thinking about it now. We're staying at POR and like to take the boat to DD to eat sometimes and my Disney Family loves seafood, especially my DS12. I was not surprised that Rainforest Cafe was not on the list, but I am surprised some of the others aren't. I realize Disney does not own the DD restaurants, but I'm sure that Disney offerred them some sort of deal to be included in it and you would think it have been to their advantage to accepted.

My guess is that it IS because Cap't. Jacks is the only DtD resaurant still operated by Disney. I would bet that the other eateries were given the option of participating and chose not to be a part of the program, for whatever reasons.

I know that Fulton's is not owned by Disney. We tried to using our Disney Rewards card last year and they would not let us. The waiter gave a little grief too when we used our room charge card. It doesn't surprise me that they are not a part of the Dining Option. Good food, but it would be better if we could use the same payment methods as the rest of the area.

I haven't read anything good about CJ's, so they may need the extra business. Any restaurant can improve, but Fulton's is a must, and I won't take my chances at CJ's personally.

Capt Jack's is certainly the worst restaurant in WDW. Its badness is by this point notorious. A few days ago someone posted a query; I gave a pretty thorough review of our experiences.

Excuse me, I'm new and making my first trip to WDW in 9 days. We are seeing LaNouba Jan 14th and had planned to eat at Capt Jack's. What's wrong with them? Can you name another good restaurant in the DTD area--preferably one that has seafood, steak, and hamburgers?

If you are staying on property I would eat there then La nouba or dinner afterwords. You can take the ferry over to Olivia's at OKW wheich is awesome!!!!!! Evertime we even look at cj menu no one in my party agrees to go there. Nothing special for the prices, I would take the ferry over to OKW.

We're staying at the AKL and I thought about Bomas, but both my son and his daughter are very picky eaters. He won't touch anything with onions in it and neither will eat anything they don't recognize. I'm afraid the day we go to Epcot they're going to starve. :earboy2: I was hoping Capt Jacks would have a good steak for him, hamburger for my GD, and good seafood for me.

We have never been to C J's but I will say I don't think I have seen many favorable reviews about it on here. We have however seen many many poor reviews so we have never tried it.

Hi there... we had lunch at Captain Jacks on December 18th... it was a pleasant meal with good food.

I had the beef dip sandwich and it was a little plain till I added some red pepper mayo - then it was really good.

We also had the Caesar chicken salad - very good

and the kids had the Linguini Provincale' - very tasty with noodles, garlic, basil and chopped tomatoes and the hot dog which came with mac & cheese.

This restaurant had good service and a busy yet casual atmosphere... nautical theme.

I would recommend it and eat here again, no problem.

It has been several years since we've eaten at Capt. Jacks'...but our meals were always tasty and the service good...I can't comment on the steaks, as I've always had seafood there. However, other people in our party liked the steak.

If your kids can be picky that's more of a reason to go to olivia's. They have kid menu and great seafood. Great corn chowder!!! Also great views and the boat dock is right at Olivias. Just take the bus over to DTD and then ride the ferry or take bus.

My DS is a very picky eater and I have many allergies and we both eat at Boma. DS does well with the fruit and pasta, meatballs, fries and mac and cheese. He's the ultimate in picky too.

We also really like Capt Jacks. I don't understand why it has such a bad reputation, unless it is because they don't accept PS and the waits can be rather long at nights.

I haven't been there but usually if the menu appeals to me I'll be fine at places. It's when I try some place just because it is recommended highly even though the menu is a little iffy for me do I run into trouble. In other words I think dining experiences vary depending on taste and whether or not they are having a good night or a bad one which can happen anywhere. Someone recommended Olivia's and I have read many bad reviews about it too lately, so it goes to show we all have different tastes and experiences I guess.

Does anyone think the Downtown Disney rest. will be hurt by not being on the Dining Option. I think people who would normally eat some of their meals at D. D. will now eat them at the parks or at the resorts if they have the Dining Option. Which could mean a big decrease in customers at D.D.

Yes, I agree about the DD restaurants being hurt. I know it's a bit off topic, but I think the whole dining plan is going to be VERY confusing to those who don't "know" or read about WDW like we at DIS do. I'm interested to see how it goes.
