Cape May, Yak & Yeti, or Other?

My fiance and I are going to Disney World in May for our honeymoon. We have figured out all of our TS meals except for one. The restaurant has to be in AK or outside of the parks (we are not getting a park hopper). We are on the dinning plan and we are staying at POR (we are eating at Boatwrights on another night). Also, we want to avoid any restaurant that requires two TS credits per meal. Should we go to Cape May, Yak & Yeti, or a different restaurant? Thanks for your help!

Yak and Yeti is fine, and I'd choose it over Cape May, but I think the best choice for you given your stated criteria would be Sanaa in the Kidani Village section of the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

It's one table service credit, close to Animal Kingdom, easy to get reservations for, and delicious. Plus, you still get to take in some of that Animal Kingdom vibe from the decor of the resort and the Savanna views from the restaurant windows. They also have a very good lounge.

We really liked Cape May. Thought the buffet was very good. Have not eaten at Yak & Yeti, but see such rave reviews about it here that I'm ready to try it!

Thanks! I looked at the menu for Sanaa. It looks pretty good to me but my DF is such a picky eater. He's a plain 'ol steak kinda guy

If so, I'd recommend Cape May. We have a blast there just eating & cracking crab legs. And afterwards you can walk along the boardwalk or maybe go to Jellyrolls for some entertainment, so you can make a night of it.

My family also loves Cape May. Some of us love seafood and some don't and everyone leaves full and happy. We also love to walk over to the Boardwalk and walk around after. We have never tried Yak & Yeti. We tried BOMA last June but didn't really care for all the sweet dishes. Many people love it though, and it was neat to walk around AKL and see the animals.

Well, between the two you mentioned, I would choose Cape May. We did both our last trip. Yak & Yeti was ok, but was really akin to middle of the road chinese. Not overly junky, but nothing special either. Cape May was at least solid seafood. My DW loves seafood, and eat 4 or 5 plates worth that trip. The other dishes were reasonable as well.

If you want to stay in the AK/AKL area, both Sanaa and Boma are wonderful choices. In my opinion it really depends on what type of food you want to eat.

I was told that Cape May doesn't always serve crab legs. Is this true? I love crab legs and that would help me make my decision. My DF and I like seafood, but we aren't huge fans of clams and mussels.

I've eaten at Cape May (dinner) about 4x...

I just tried Yak & Yeti back in May for the first time...

While I've always liked Cape May... it was just a convenient buffet that everyone was fine with.... (we stayed at Beach Club)....

I would try the clams & mussels but there was a carving station that I always had. Salad bar good. Kids liked the boiled shrimp and dessert buffet. Okay....

DS & I tried Yak & Yeti back in May. I LOVED the atmosphere... and the menu reminded me (loosely) of P.F. Changs. The tempura green beans were okay...but LOVED the lettuce wraps, tuna appy and beef & Broccoli entree.

I was originally going to suggest Y&Y...however If your DFiance is picky... and doesn't care for Chinese food then he won't like it.

When I plan visits with the whole family... including picky eaters... I always find the buffets satisfy. But I can't rave about Cape May like some folks because IMHO... it is a lot like all the buffets we've eaten at WDW. (i.e. H&V which gets a bad rap but I'm okay with)

If you are spending the day at AK... then Y&Y is the best best - Transportation - wise. However... I do agree with PP's... for a young couple... hanging out on the Boardwalk would be a Great evening (But I'd eat at Flying Fish or somewhere else than Cape May if planning that sort of night)

I'd go with yak and yeti... Cape May was just ok... I wouldnt make a special trip there. Have you BF try the ribs ... they are excellent!

Cape May would be a better choice for a picky eater. Yes, they do have the crab legs all the time now. I've done Cape May twice, once with my DS and once with the whole family. We had always stayed away from it because my DH is allergic to crustaceans (seafood.) However, he found plenty of things to enjoy while the rest of us feasted on the seafood. I must have had 3 plates full of crab legs that night....pure heaven for someone who can't make those things at home because of DH's allergy.

We have eaten at Yak & Yeti three times as well. We did enjoy it there. The wok fried green beans are incredibly good! Our kids normally aren't big veggie eaters, but they wolf those down so fast that you have to watch out when you put your hand near the dish. Our DD loves the honey/sesame chicken and I have enjoyed the flank steak entree. Again, it's good, but probably not the best choice for a picky eater.

Other places I would consider are:
1900 Park Fare (Grand Floridian resort)- We loved the buffet here and even though it is a character meal, I think the two of you would have a lot of fun there. The characters are absolutely hysterical! Plus, the Grand Floridian is such a romantic place to go. End your evening with a walk along the beach and watching the Magic Kingdom fireworks.

Trail's End Buffet (Fort Wilderness) - Very nice buffet, plus you get to go off the beaten path by heading to the campground. Allow extra travel time to get here because you take one bus to the resort then another internal bus to get to the area where the buffet is. If you are driving, you will still have to park and take the internal bus. We liked being able to take a walk on the beach after dinner and going through the animal areas there as well. Again, you could even time your meal so you could finish the evening watching the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the beach!

Perhaps if you were looking for more variety you could try the Tusker House Restaurant. I personally have never been there but I have relatives that rave about it. They walked away pleased and plus it is a buffet so you both have something to choose from.

Yak&Yeti is operated by Landry's. The food is good, probably better than most of the Disney operated restaurants. The menu selection is big, again most of the Disney operated restaurants have small selections and frankly a flank steak tastes the same at any Disney restaurant you can get it at.
