I was reading a food report last night and their photos of Cape May are tempting me to give it a go. DH is a good Jew and most likely won't eat pork or crab, even on vacation but the rest of us will. Would it be a total waste for him? The buffet is expensive but is the food worth it?

He's light hearted and doesn't offend easily. :teeth:

We just dined there last month. We had DDP so the price wasn't an issue. I think its high because of the seafood. I'm not a seafood person at all but my wife and niece who went are. They piled their plates high with crab, clams and mussels and loved it.

For me, I enjoyed the carved meats (chicken, beef etc), salads, fruit, chowder, and other non-seafood items. I do like shrimp so had a few. Desserts were good as well. If most in your party like crab and other seafood then its worth it and I survived being a non-seafood lover.

We dined there a couple of weeks ago and I didn't have pork or crab and still left full and happy.:)

I really enjoyed the beef and mashed potatoes. They also had some very good cold salads. Desserts were also very tasty.

Cape May is one of my favs. I think its definitly worth it to eat there. They have alot to choose from, and its all really good!

If there are people in your party who love seafood then Cape May is a great place. I'm not a seafood lover at all and left stuffed. The ribs(although pork) were very yummy as was the corn bread and all the sides. As I was on to the delicious desserts the other adults were still eating crab. It was the quietest meal since everyone was too busy eating to talk We are planning to go again next trip. Enjoy!

Awesome, thank you! It would cost $300 for the 6 of us. :faint:

Did you try the Bon Bons? Everyone says they're the Bomb Bomb.

My kids love crab so they'd get their $$$ worth I think. It's very $$$ for 6 people though considering 6 are far from real adults, just Disney adults.

:thumbsup2 It is hands down our favorite place to eat there. Love it all, but the clam chowder and crab legs are worth every penny to us. The salads are great, the sides and oh, those bon bons  I hope they still have the flan, it is the creamiest I have ever eaten. We eat there 2-3 times every time we go. Can't wait for our April trip :woohoo:

I've always said that I dont' believe Cape May is a "Destination" restaurant....however that was before the Crab legs....

We've eaten there about 4x because we've stayed at BC 4x....

But I've always felt it a good value because with "Picky" teens... I must say everyone has always left FULL !

But to answer your question... I do LOVE seafood but I've always enjoyed the carved Roast at Cape May, the (standard) garlic mashed potatoes and the salads.....I don't think your DH will leave hungry at all...

have a Magical Visit !

Mary

The Bon Bons were the highlight of the meal. Even my husband, who hates anything chocolate, thought they were awesome!

Good to know. My DH and kids love chocolate so they'll love them I'm sure. Now that I found out its not a real Oreo wrapped in chocolate but more of an Oreo cream, it seems pretty delicious.

I love Flan, that's my kind of dessert. :thumbsup2 My DS loves clam chowder too. Cape May is sounding like a almost must do. Enjoy your trip! :woohoo:

Thank you Mary. It seems like there is a lot more than seafood. Now I just have to wrap my head around $300 for dinner.

My husband is a huge seafood lover and adored the food at Cape May! I'm not big on seafood, but there were other choices. My issue was that each item I wanted to eat was *so* heavily seasoned and spicey! I love bold flavors, but it was ridiculous... I don't see this as a common complaint, so perhaps it was just an off day?

Regardless, the flan is to die for, and the "chocolate cups" have won my daughter's heart. She was just shy of three years old and had nearly 15 chocolate cups (it's vacation after all....). She still talks about those chocolate cups quite often!!

Despite my not caring for it much, we will be back no doubt - if not just for flan and chocolate cups!

DS16 and I just ate at Cape May last week. I am a "bad" Jew in that I now eat seafood and such. If your DH doesn't eat seafood, they do have fish on the buffet as well in addition to lots of salads. If you and the kids love seafood- the crab legs are awesome and well worth it. And, if you aren't familiar with Beach Club, give yourself a little bit of time to explore -- it's really pretty.

Enjoy!

:goodvibes Our next trip is my DDs bat mitzvah celebration. Mavel too to your bar mitzvah. Sounds like a funny WDW commercial: You just became a bar/bat mitzvah, what are you going to do next? I'm going to Cape May Cafe.

:cloud9: I love Flan. Are the chocolate cups the Bons Bons?

Sorry, not to make fun, but my husband and I carry a small spice can of "Tonys" (a cajun seasoning) to add some spice to the foods. We consider most of them "under" seasoned :lmao: I am from cajun bayou country (LA) and we do love our seasonings  We find the farther north we travel the more bland the food is, but we know everyone has different backgrounds and tastes and that is fine :goodvibes but that is why we carry our "Tonys" :thumbsup2 At places like Disney they are usually pretty conservative considering the variety of people eating there. :woohoo: ready to go!!

We love Cape May and it's a "must do" on every trip... i really do think there is something for everyone. My oldest DD is the picky one and she really likes this buffet....

Where else are you eating?

 This made me laugh. My Dh said if he could carry garlic and an S&P shaker into WDW, he would. I have a coworker who puts Cholula hot sauce on everything.

That seems to be the case. Now if I can just get past the $300 check for the 6 of us. :faint:
