Each trip we try at least one new restaurant in addition to our old favorites. We're thinking about the Friday night clam bake/seafood buffet at the Beach CLub resort. Anyone got any opinions on this one?? THANKS!:cool1:

It was our first time at the Clambake and we really enjoyed it. Lots of nice buffet choices. DH likes the clams and mussels, me not so much but there was PLENTY of other choices. And the flan...awesome. I have read mixed reviews here, but we give it a :thumbsup2 ! Have fun on your trip, and if you do decide to go, check out the sand castles in the display cases throughout the restaurant, really fun.

This used to be a must do on our trips- the past two times we found it to be less than the best, food was dry and service to clear was a bit slow. We found ourselves leaving it off the list the past few times we have been down. I would love to hear some positive reviews going forward so we might go back

We were there a few weeks ago and everything was hot and fresh. So good we went back a second time for dinner:) We have been going there for years and years (we are BCV DVC members). The food has not gone down hill although maybe someone was there on a bad night or time. I thought it was better and fresher than before.

This used to be one of our favorites...but since the introduction of DDP the food quality has gone way down in our experience. :sad2:

The first two times this place was sooo good we fell in love with the food there and decided it was a must do for us. The third time it was just ok and the last time (Oct 07) it was ick. We had a 5:30 ADR and walked over from the YC at 5...we saw them putting out the food so when we were seated everything was dried out or cold. They could not replenish the clam chowder fast enough so every time I went to get some it was gone. Peel and eat shrimp were soggy, corn bread was dry, they no longer serve the beef tips and mushrooms, the clams were dinky and sandy, the corn was soggy.

DH said to lay off this place for a few trips and try other stuff.

The fried talapia was awesome, the ribs and roasted chicken are my favorite! And the oreo bon bons are super good.

The place gets very full and super chaotic. They now have line dividers so people cannot cut in here and there. The seafood was all on one side, salads and soup on another, regular foods on one side and breads and cookies on the last side.

They do not offer crab legs or lobster add ons.

Actually being in Cape May (County, NJ) right now, I figured I'd chime in!

We tried this buffet a few years ago and were not overly impressed.:sad2:
Although the food was plentiful and offered a good selection, it was rather bland. Being from the Jersey Shore seafood must be full flavored and spicey, lots of butter and Old Bay, tasty crab and clam cakes, thick fried flounder with tangy tartar sauce, steamed little neck clams in garlic sauce, raw oysters with onion chutney, mussels in hot marinara sauce....:woohoo:

Man am I hungry!!!!!:rotfl2:

This buffet had average fried foods, average crab legs, average steamed clams and average side dishes.... in a word average!

If I had it to do over again... I'd skip this and go to Fultons for oysters and beer!

I think if you haven't gone yet it is worth at least one visit. We liked the food but I wouldn't race back again. We enjoyed BOMA much more.

Haven't been in years, but it was always a great value.
