Don't think of Cape May Cafe as a seafood restaurant - think of it as a buffet that has seafood items on it. Then you won't be disappointed in the quantity and/or quality of seafood.

You can look at menus to decide if you like Cap'n Jack's, but at Cape May you'll likely get a seafood soup or bisque, mussels, clams, some sort of fish entree and crab legs plus ribs, chicken, standard stuff that is on most buffets. We enjoy the buckets of clams and mussels and are looking forward to the crab legs, but the best part is that it's a buffet so we can get a variety, especially for our picky DS.

Here's the link the the menu of Cap'n Jacks:

You really can’t compare Cape May and Captain Jack’s.

We have experienced both. Captain Jack’s twice (didn’t lean the first time) and Cape May many times, for a very GOOD reason. Cape May has a large variety of food to chose from, all great. The crab legs are extra, but they do have mussels, clams, shrimp and fish for your seafood fix. Also try the pot roast, very good.

I would say if you primarily want seafood, maybe check out Fulton's Crab House at Downtown Disney. Better variety than either Jack's or Cape May. But, if given the choice between Cape May or Cap'n Jack's, I'll pick Cape May every time. I personally think Jack's is overpriced (it's Disney - what isn't, right?) but the food is pretty mediocre in my experience. Been to Cape May 4 different times. 3 times were fantastic, one time was so-so. But - even the one time it wasn't great, it was still better than Jack's. Again, that was my experience. Others may have had better meals at Jack's than we did.

Is there an extra charge for the crab legs or am I reading this wrong?

We ate at Cape May the 1st week in Dec. and it was wonderful!!! So much so, that DH made a request that we eat there again in Aug. when we go back. So it will be the 1st ADR I make.

I was there December 9th and there were crab legs and at no additional charge. The buffet was very good, but not great. Service was adequate at best. Still, I'd go back.

IMHO, for a seafood restaurant, Captain Jack's offers very little seafood. I was unimpressed. Cape May, on the other hand, was one of my favorites during our last trip this past December.
