we are big fans of cape may, this weekend we drove to busch gardens in tampa then took a little detour to eat dinner at cape may before heading back home (a 3.5 hour drive)
we arrived *just* at our ressie time because of traffic. they couldn't find our name in the system, but promised to squeeze us in. we were given a buzzer and a 20 minute promise. about 35 minutes later, all 7 of us were led through a restaurant that was about 20% empty to a dark, corner table that would have comfortably held 4 or 5, maybe 6 people when crowded. one chair couldn't even fit at the actual table. we asked to be seated at a larger table that was clearly unoccupied and was told that we couldn't sit there, we would have to wait in the lobby for another table. so, off we go into the lobby.
then to be led to the table we asked for several minutes earlier!!
the service was so-so. they cleared the plates quickly but drink re-fills were hard to come by.
the food was good, the mussels and clams were a bit gritty with sand so we didn't eat much of that. we did enjoy the carved meat, sausage and peppers, peal and eat shrimp, ribs, and the soup was terrific. none of that compared to those luscious little oreo bon bons and mini cheesecakes!!
in the end, the kids (disney adults) ate mac and cheese, pizza, chicken nuggets and some desserts, all this at a whopping cost of about $200!!!
