My parents and I are staying at the YC for our upcoming August trip and were thinking about nearby places where we could have a low key dinner. We thought we might give the Cape May Clambake a try. There aren't many reviews on the review board about it, so I would love some feedback. Thanks!

it's fine. It's nothing exciting but as a close low key restaurant it will do perfectly for your needs. My inlaws love this place and always insist we do it- and I personally don't like it too much, but it's fine.

I love it.We do this our first night too. If you are looking for a lot of fantastic seafood, you may not like it though. The seafood choices are limited. But there are tons of other options .

DH and I love the Clam Bake, we have eaten there many many times and it is always great! Click on my Oct link for a ton of buffet pics and a full review of the food.

We did the clam back our first night, this past February. There was enough variety that we all found items on the buffet that we really enjoyed.

We will definitely return on future trips to the World.

We like it very much. Most trips we try to go for a dinner and a breakfast. It's buffet food. Make no mistake, but it's in our opinions, some of the better buffet food at WDW as well as has been said, there is a pretty good variety to choose from. :thumbsup2

We ate there for the first time in July 07. We loved it and have it planned again this year.

We usually eat here on our first full day for dinner. We'll be doing that in June. We enjoy it.

Not sure Cape May always qualifies as "low key." When we were at WDW in Feb, we went by Cape May one evening and the restaurant was very busy (and loud) with long lines in the buffet lines.

If you are staying at the YC, you could try Captain's Grille (which is right in the YC lobby). It is rarely crowded and is a very quiet place for a meal.

WE have BEEN to Cape May many times & enjoy it....you didn't say when you were going in Aug. but if it is during FREE DINING it may be rather crowded & noisy w/kids.

The steakhouse mentioned (which is quiet but I haven't tried) or Dolphin/Swan restaurant may be a better choice if your not on DDP. Garden Grove @ Dolphin/Swan is a buffet & more of a "quite" admosphere & we've enjoyed it for b'fast (but don't know about dinner).

We also loved Cape May. It's on our 'must do' list again this year. Every member of our party thought it was great, from the kids to grandpa.

I just remembered something. It won't apply to your Aug trip, but when we were there in Dec. about 6 years ago, when our son was 3, there was a strolling musician going amongst the tables singing carols and requests. He got to our table and asked if we had any requests. He asked if our DS knew Jingle Bells. Well, thanks to my DH (God love him :goodvibes ) Our son knew it alright, just not the traditional lyrics as well as the "alternate version". You know, the one involving Batman and Robin? :lmao:  So the singer got down on one knee and quietly sung that version for us and our son. :santa::cloud9: What a wonderful memory that was and still is.:lovestruc I wish we could have done something for that guy. He truly had the utmost in Disney sprit. Something we'll always remember and what keeps us going back. Cape May will always have a place in our heart purely for that reason, but we loved it anyway. :cloud9:

Thanks for all the replies! It sounds like Cape May will fit the bill. We're not looking for fine dining, just something convenient. We'll be flying in from the west coast, so we'll be at the end of a long day. Thanks again!
