I haven't been to Cape May Cafe for their seafood buffet in 15 years , at least! I don't even remember the experience or the meal.

I'd like some current opinions, reviews please.

:)

We ate at Cape May for the first time last September and loved it! The food was hot, tasty and plentiful. Lots of variety. And the desserts were fantastic, too.

We went in 2009 and it was my kids' favorite buffet. The food was delicious! You will enjoy it.:thumbsup2

I did find that at dinner it was VERY busy. Our ADR was for 5:30, so we got in early enough to avoid a big crowd. But as we were finishing we notice it was very busy and crowded...jmho.

We went last August on a Wednesday night for their fried shrimp. We all loved it, and plan on going back next Aug. The chef took really great care of my 4 yr old son with over 20 allergies! He called several times before hand to plan something for him. He made him a rice milk flan.

We didn't love it, but it wasn't too bad.
I doubt we'd pay OOP for it OR even use a TS credit so now that I think of it...LOL!

We were already staying at BC and they had walk up availability. DH and I are big shellfish/seafood fans so generally it would be right up our alley.
I do tend to hesitate a bit getting shellfish from a buffet, just because it can be "questionable"...but I have never heard of Cape May having any issues or anyone getting sick.

I guess if you want to pick through multiple plates of pencil thin, (think less than Red Lobster level) crab legs you could sqeek value out of it.

We are also not dessert people so even though there are a few nice options there I can't say much about them because we didn't try much.

We mostly ate salads and the aforementioned "stick legs" so I didn't feel it was a good value for the price (We paid OOP)

Our service was lacking too, so maybe that puts a shodow on my memory of the meal. I regularily find the buffet servers at WDW to be largely dismissive and often absent in general...(there are exceptions of course.)

We LOVE it!! We ate there twice last summer. Excellent ribs and seafood, salads. Everything was was great. Also great desserts:)

Thanks for sharing your opinions!

I will be on the lookout for those skinny crab legs!

I remember being disappointed in the meal .... but as I said before I don't remember the meal or the experience.:confused3

I am going there with my daughter, my husband and son fly in 2 days after us..... so it's only 2 of us eating, I figure I'll give it a second chance.:)

Here's a link to my review of our May 2012 dinner there, with some pics:

If you like crab, mussels, and clams, you should enjoy Cape May a LOT. If you don't, you might be out of luck, like I was.

Thank you for the link. I did a search, for Cape May, on the review board before I started a new thread, but didn't see yours.
It's exactly what I was looking for.

I have a few weeks to make my decision.

I may begin searching for an off-property seafood restaurant, to get a good meal before my husband and son arrive..... they do not eat seafood.

My family ate there March 2012, it was great! The service was the best! Food was always hot and fresh!

I had always thought I wouldn't enjoy it. But I was with a group who wanted to go, so off we went and it ended up being really enjoyable. I loved the clams and the beef was amazing. I didn't eat to many desserts because by that time I was too full.
I would give it a try. :)

Cape may quickly became one of our favorites.

Crab legs and clams are my fav and the little kids buffet area with Mac and cheese and chicken nuggets is a hit with the young tykes.

But with all the good comes a little bad ad I do feel the dessert choices are a bit lacking !

We went July 2011--so not terribly recent...but it just wasn't anything special to me. :confused3

For one, getting there was a pain...we should have just drove, but we used Disney transport. If you are staying nearby, this won't dampen your dinner like it did ours.

Second, the Boardwalk was okay to walk afterwards, but I didn't find anything special about the ambiance of the restaurant...nothing especially Disney.

Third, I like crab legs, but don't *love* them. It was a pain shelling crab legs for my son and I.

Fourth, I had my son with me...he was 5...5 year olds and buffets are hard. Especially when the crab legs have to be shelled AND the buffet layout is very odd (I felt like I was going the wrong way and no one was there to make sure I was going the right way).

Fifth, dessert selection was lacking and the desserts weren't that great with the exception of the oreo bon bon things.

I really don't get the rave reviews...for much less money, I could have just driven to Red Lobster :confused3 (or gone somewhere I really like such as Bubba Gump's)

We have gone our last two trips and love it! We have found the crab legs to be some of the best we have ever had, always fresh and plentiful. My only complaint was that the desserts were sparse. Not that we really needed desserts in the first place. It was later in the evening and I think they were just running out. It absolutely wouldn't keep me from going again in the future!
