Has anyone done this? I talk to some I know and their brother tried it and said it was not worth it. Can anyone help?

We returned recently from our May vacation at WDW and I wanted to do the Clam Bake. We got early ressies and my children got to ring the bell to open the restaurant. It was a different kinda thing to do.....Anyway, on to the food. We have gone to several all-u-can eat buffets. From breakfast ones to dinner ones. In my opinion this was the best tasting food. The ribs were the best EVER! The clams were good as well. The desserts were beautiful as well as tasty too! I wouldn't have one single bad thing to say about the food or the CM'S. They were all very nice and even gave my children a certificate for their outstanding performance for ringing the "bell". FYI...the bell is located above the clams on the buffet. Try it, I couldn't imagine someone saying it wasn't worth it. There is plenty to choose from! Hope this helps!

I've lost track of how many times we've eaten there over the years (must be at least a dozen) and it's always been good food and service.

its not what you think I didnt enjoy it at all. I didnt like the hotel either, probably cause that where I spent my honeymoon (Should have been a sign)clambakes are usually on the beach with tons of seafood this was more like just service in a sit down restaurant

Tried it for the first time last visit and it will be on our "must do" list from now on. Clams, clams, clams.

YUCK YUCK AND DOUBLE YUCK. They call those clams, they were as small as a peanut M&M and were even to small to be devained. That was my worst meal in DW, I actually complained cause we didn't eat a darn thing and they charged us for 2 childrens dinner, GROSS

I went to it a few years ago when it was advertised as a new england style clambake.
it was good, but it wasn't close to new england style. they had the wrong kind of clams(they had quahogs, not steamers). but the food was good, but it is different now, and the clams are in some kind of tomato sauce according to the menu, so I havent been back. pirate:

We ahve been there twice and enjoyed it both times. My general rule with WDW restaurants is if we think we might like it, we try it at least once and form our own opinions because not everyone likes the same things.

This was advertised as a "New England" style clam bake...it wasn't even close. It definately was not worth the $!!!!

We've gone the last two years, and will very likely go back this year.
The food and service are fine, but you shouldn't go with unrealistic expectations.

As others have mentioned it is not an authentic clambake.
You do not get all-you-can-eat lobster or crab legs! (You can get crab legs but they cost extra $$.)
In fact the seafood is a little disappointing, but of course buffet seafood simply is not going to be the same quality as a freshly prepared entree.

If you can get past these facts, it is well worth a try! The desserts are very good. In fact I swear I saw some women who thought it was a $24 dessert buffet, and getting their money's worth!

The Clam Bake was not my favorite meal, however I don't eat seafood, which makes a big difference. DH eats seafood and he enjoyed it. I mostly ate the ribs and mashed potatoes--both were great. The desserts however were out of this word. The price of dinner was totally worth the oreo bonbons! I could have made myself sick eating them! :worship:
