Hi there! I just snagged an ADR for Cape May @ 8:30pm for our December trip (I made all of my original reservations 190 days out b/c of the glitch awhile back, but I can't keep myself from making changes )

Anyways, it seems that most of the recent reviews have been pretty positive overall, and I'm wondering: what are your favorites? I have seen mixed reviews on the crab legs, but I have heard some good things about the lobster tortellini, the desserts, etc.

Also, do they offer melted butter for dipping the crab legs? Are the mussels steamed plain or do they have some flavoring? What about the shrimp....are they steamed or do they also offer some sort of fried shrimp as well?

One last question - how have your experiences been w/ eating there a little later in the night? I think it closes @ 9:30 so if we don't get sat until a little after 8:30, will they still be refilling all of the food?

We did the buffet last year and plan to do it again this year. My dh loved the crab legs (yes, they have melted butter!) and the clam chowder. I'm not sure about the shrimp and mussels questions (maybe allears could help?)
My kids and I enjoyed the prime rib and mac & cheese (SO good I got the recipe...NOT the usual Disney mac). The steamed potatoes and corn on the cob were great sides too. The desserts were REALLY great...lots to chose from! The kids also loved coloring on the table tops while waiting.
Our reservations have tended to be on the earlier side (before 8:30) so I don't know how busy it will be then, but we had no trouble during our ADR last year. It filled up later in the evening, but I guess that's expected as the parks close too.
Best of luck to you and I hope you enjoy it! :thumbsup2

I LOVE Cape May!!! Their house salad is great, the tortellini is wonderful, the steamed clams and mussels were tender - and the mussels are cooked with some seasoning and diced veggies if I remember. The crab legs are good, but they're not a big draw for me. And they have melted butter. This year they had fried shrimp too - yummy! And the clam chowder is amazing. My hubby did all of the non fish stuff, and he loved it too!

It's become a definite stop for us!

We have dined there about 6 times and each time the food was incredible...I cannot get enough of the ribs and DH pigs out on the littlenecks. THe latest we have eaten there is 7:30 and the food was hot and fresh.

Yes they have plain drawn butter and I think they have herb garlic butter too

My favorite thing at Cape May dinner? The mashed potatoes, I think they are pesto flavored, they are SO good! :)

We ate there this past Aug. My so loves ribsand that is one of the reasons we choose Cape May Cafe. The ribs were not too good. The salads were pretty good and the desserts were very good. I didn't have the crab legs. There were other dishes that I can't exactly remember that were pretty good.

Although I am not a big fan of Cape May I can answer the late seating and food availability question. We have eaten after 9 p.m. there twice and the food was kept replaced and fresh until the bitter end! Disney is really good about this, in general.

The fried tilapia I had there was amazing. The first fish I would actually eat. My husband had to take a picture to prove to people I ate it. Hated the Oreo bonbons. I found them too sweet.

I was thinking making dinner reservations there after looking at the menu because there appears to be something there for everyone and the price doesn't appear to bad. I did have one question though, I notice the menu is broken up into different sides of the buffet and then a childrens' buffet. My youngest, who will be 7 at the time we go, really goes for the seafood and grownup stuff, but my oldest, who will be 10, isn't going to eat anything but the chicken strips and maybe fried fish from the kids buffet. Will that be an issue?

I can't say about Cape May for certain, but a few years ago we ate at California Grill with a 13 year old who wanted chicken strips off of the kids menu and an 8 year old who wanted salmon off of the regular menu and it wasn't an issue.

The mashed potatoes are the best!!! We loved the crab legs and the shrimp. The best desert was the mini lava cakes. I won't tell you how many I ate ;). Ceasar salad was really good too.

We really enjoyed capey may dinner last year. I didn't like that they call it "clambake" because it's not really a clambake. But we thought the food was very good. My husband does not eat seafood and he enjoyed himself as well. For buffets, i think this is probably one of my favorites. We also love that it's so quiet and laid back in there. No hustle and bustle.

Anyone can eat anything off the buffet. It's only divided that there is a kid's section in the back of the buffet. But my dd (8) ate her share of crab legs as well as chicken.

Does anyone know if beverages like pop and coffee are included in the price? Allears says "beverages extra" but most buffets on property include them. :confused3

We were at Cape May this last week. In the past I was never a fan but this trip it was very good. Everyone found plenty to eat and the oreo bon bons were as good as ever. Everyone enjoyed the crab legs and the mussels especially well.
