hows the food and ambiance? i suppose i should include its for dinner :)

We think the food is great. They have a wide variety and it's well prepared. The ambience is typical of any buffet; kinda loud and crowded at times, but the food is well worth a visit. We eat there every visit to WDW.

We love breakfast; dinner was great the first time, so-so the second time. Don't go expecting a "lot of different" fish even though it is a "clambake."

We ate their last year for dinner and there were no characters.

We really liked the variety and the food and are going back this year!

Here is my previous review on dining here. This was in Dec 07.

Beach Club - Cape May Cafe

Restaurant was relatively quiet

Cons:

We checked in at 8:15 and were provided a pager. We were sat within 5 minutes. While being sat, we were instructed where to find the hot foods and cereals.

The food here was good; I liked everything I tried. There was the usual buffet items such as eggs, bacon, Mickey waffles and biscuits. They also had two types of quiche and some potatoes. There was not much else at the warm foods buffet.

Our service was decent, but nothing exceptional. It is a buffet after all. She brought our drinks once, refilled our juice and we never saw her again until she brought our check.

The characters were rushed. Sadly, there was not even that many people in the restaurant. Goofy stopped by, would not sign my daughter's autograph book, posed for one quick picture and ran off. Minnie and Dale came by quickly as well and then they were off. Instead of signing my daughter's autograph book, he picked up a crayon and signed the paper covering the table and then took off.

Overall, it was not a terrible experience. I would do it again on the dining plan, but not pay out of pocket for that kind of experience. The character interaction was very disappointing.

Overall, I rate Cape May Cafe as a B.

We were there for the clam bake in June and felt the food was average. Not the best and not the worst. There was no ambience! It was noisy and people were walking around everywhere. The service was so-so. We didn't get much service from our waiter who was a little strange anyway. Most of our service came from the other servers. We were seated right by the kitchen which was a bad location for being busy and noisy. I doubt if we will ever go back.

I've eaten there a half dozen times for breakfast and dinner and found the food very fresh and plentiful. The service has always been good, but again, it's a buffet so you don't need that much attention. Character interaction is great and I found that they spend alot of time at each table whether a child is there, or not. It can be hectic at times, but no more than any other restaurant on property. Go and enjoy yourself!:thumbsup2

WE LOVE CAPE MAY! the food is varied.Though I do admit if you are looking for tons of seafood you will be disappointed. It is very loud though...
