We have never been there and just I wanted to get some information. I am thinking about the character breakfast or the buffet dinner (my kids LOVE seafood). Any opinions out there?

DH and I like the seafood buffet. He's more of a beef eater, but does enjoy the peel your own shrimp. I especially like the steamed mussels, (there are 2 kinds), littleneck ( I think that's what they are) clams, the shrimp and the clam chowder. For the life of me, I don't remember if there's anything like salmon:confused3 but there is a meat that's carved.

I like the cornbread a LOT. Basically, I don't bother with their desserts, it's mostly mussels, clams and shrimp, soup and salad for me, and the cornbread is my dessert YUM!

That sounds very good!! I love shrimp and my 9 and 10 year old sons love mussels (I won't touch them, but don't tell them that:) ) Any opinion on the breakfast?

I've never eaten at the breakfast, but there's always lots of people having fun!
The other buffet that has mussels, but a different type, is Hollywood and Vine, the dinner. They are a special treat for me, and we try to go there once a year. Cape May buffet is definitely more seafood, and we both like it better, but it may be something your sons would like someday! There, I do eat dessert, they have a most delicious 3 berry cobbler, served warm, and if you want to put ice cream on it...well, perfection!

That sounds great too, we will have to try that when they get older.

I guess I should have added that we have done numerous character meals (Chef Mickey's, Garden Grill, 1900 Park Fare, etc) Just wondering of the Cape May Cafe breakfast is "anything special." :bored: Sounds like the dinner is...

I haven't been to the breakfast but I read a couple of threads on the restaurant board where people spoke very highly of it. They said it wasn't that crowded, lots of character time and the characters (most of the main ones except Mickey) are all in their bathing suits which sounds hilarious. We put it on our list for the next trip. I'd try a search on that board and see what you find.

We ate there this summer..Excellent!

We had ADR for I want to say 9:00 in the morning..Was seated immediately.
Attracts alot of people, so there were people waiting without ADR...I would make an ADR if you can....

Excellent buffet, good service..I asked if they had an ommelette station and they didn't, but waitress offered for chef to make an ommelette..We didn't take her up on the offer her as there was so much food there..
Replenished often...

Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

OP - I am so glad you asked this question. We have made all our ADR's but 1 and this was the place I want to book for a late breakfast. I think I'll try and get a late breakfast ressie. :flower3:

We've done the character breakfast twice. Goofy, Minnie, Chip and Dale are dressed in their beachwear -- really cute! The food was good and because we tend to eat breakfast later than most, it wasn't very crowded. It was in early May both times which helped as well. My mom was with us on our second visit and we ate so late that day the restaurant was practically empty. Goofy sat down at our table for several minutes, writing out questions to my mom in crayon on the white paper tablecloth. It was her first character meal so she wasn't sure what to do -- it was really funny! Minnie spent a lot of time with my DH. Our only other character meal has been dinner at Crystal Palace. The Cape May breakfast was much quieter and less chaotic and we enjoyed the experience.

The Oreo Bonbons at dinner are to.die.for and are worth the price of the buffet alone.

We've enjoyed Cape May every time we've eaten there (both breakfast and dinner) and will be going back for dinner in January.

We have been there twice for dinner and went to the breakfast for the first time in August - we loved it and it was pretty quiet - we had an amazing server - absolutely lovely little oriental lady. The characters were very interactive and stayed around for a while - the food was good too. DD says that this is the place she enjoyed best and would most like to return to in May - so we will. After breakfast we strolled to International Gateway in time for rope drop at Epcot - much quieter than waiting at the main entrance.

Donald has replaced Chip & Dale. We did enjoy it last time we went.

I just booked a breakfast for our family in November! Don't know if we will do both this and the 1900 Park Fair dinner for that trip, we have the ADR's for both and have a month to decide. We're staying at the BCV, so that's a plus!

I'm glad for this thread!

Cape May Cafe is my personal favorite for breakfast, and not just because it's a character breakfast. I ate there many many years ago and I ate there this past September and the service, setting and characters have been spectacular throughout.

We were just there last week and had a great dinner. I think I ate my weight in peel-n-eat shrimp!
The food was very fresh, the salads delicious and the ribs were quite tasty if you're not a seafood person.

This is one of our favorite restaurants. We've been there several times - both for dinner and breakfast. We think they ahve hte best scrambled eggs on property. Not sure why theirs would be any different, but they were fantasmically good last time we were there.
The dinner buffet is also really good. I could just eat the salads alone and be happy. They have great tasting salads. The seafood is also good. My husband doesn't eat any seafood and he likes the restaurant too, so the non seafood items are pretty good as well.
We really like the character interaction at breakfast. It's not quite as crowded there, so visits last a little longer.
We'd go here every time if we could. Great place to eat!

DH and I love Cape May Cafe for dinner and try to eat there on every trip. It is yummy. DD who is 2 eats well there too.

My wife and I stayed at BC last spring for the Land portion of our Land/Sea package and we loved it. Even though we were two adults, the characters spent plenty of time with us and posed for as many pictures as we wanted.A fun time!

Dennis-

Thank you all for the responses. I love the idea of the quieter, more character time, breakfast. But my kids (9,9,& 10) love seafood and ribs. This is going to be a tough decision:idea: Wonder if I have time to work in one of each?:rolleyes1
