Based on reviewing the AllEars menus, my kids have decided they want to go to the Cape May Cafe dinner buffet. We've never been over to the Boardwalk/Beach Club area and know nothing about Cape May Cafe. Has anyone been who can let me know how this is? Do the food and service tend to be good?

We love Cape May. The food is good. There is a large selection at the buffet. The desserts are especially good. As for the service, I never really gave it much thought. It isn't bad, but it isn't exceptional either. I don't expect much service when I go to a buffet.

We love going to Cape May's Clam Bake :goodvibes There has always been enough food to choose from for even the pickiest eaters :rolleyes1 We've had great food and service for years. We've had the same waitress multiple times over the last 7 years and she's been there for 15 years IIRC.

Make sure you don't miss the desserts! There is a dessert section on the main buffet and there is another dessert buffet with the really good stuff (oreo bon bons) over behind the hostess stand :goodvibes

We enjoyed eating at the Cape May Cafe dinner buffet. My tip: avoid the pots of clams that are dry, go for the ones with visible liquid in them. For whatever reason, they seem to have less sand in them. The dessert buffet is outstanding, we had some sort of flan that was to die for. If you are not in too much of a rush, take the time to walk around the restaurant and look at all the sandcastles in the glass cases, they are pretty neat.
Enjoy your trip!

We love it!!!! Need I say more. Just kidding. We ate there in Oct 07. The service was not the best, but I think she was new. She kept the table clean and the glasses full, she just wasn't Disney friendly (if that makes sense). The food was delish. I'm not a big clam person (okay, never tried them except the fried kind) but my sister loved them! The food was good and filling. Make sure that you find the "good" desserts. They are kind of hidden behind the hostess stand. Yummo!

We love Cape May for dinner :goodvibes. The buffet is filled with a variety of things for everyone's taste :). There are no characters at the dinner buffet (breakfast only) but the atmosphere is nice and the food is great ;)

Cape May Cafe is great! The service and food is excellent and there are a lot of different options!:thumbsup2

Well, if it makes any difference, we can't go to the Cape May anymore. My husband is boycotting it because "they took away all the fried stuff!!!!!" :rotfl2:

I believe they have a good salad bar. Can't say I've ever eaten off of it. I go right for the clams and mussels. And I take a dessert every time I go for a "real" plate. Why wait until the end when you are stuffed?

i am deciding between Cape May and Crystal Palace...
the character interaction is no big deal , i am trying to figure out which food is better.. It looks like i like more food items at Cape May....

Anyone have an opinion?

Hi
I've been to Cape May Cafe 3 times and it's been really great everytime. Our service has always been good and the Oreo Bon Bons are one of the best desserts. If you like chocolate, don't miss them. They are over to the side of the buffet, out of the way. Can't wait to go back in August! Have a great time!

Well, the character interaction might not be important to you but it sure will be to all those other kids at Crystal Palace. In other words, you will have a quieter time at Cape May. One big reason I avoid character meals of any kind.

That is a good point....
We aren't huge pooh fans... we have had breakfast before so thats why i said it was not big deal...but you are right...
Thank you

I agree with everyone else- Cape May is one of our favorites and we have to go every time we're at WDW. Another new favorite is 1900 Park Fare, with the stepsisters. The food was wonderful, service was great, and the characters are hilarious!

Cape May is one of our favourites!!! DBf is a huge fan of clams and mussels and it's a must-do for us!!:thumbsup2 He also loves the corn-on-the-cob from the clam bake and had 4 of those!;)

I think they have a good variety of foods there and I think they serve really good caesar salad! Desserts are great at Cape May too:woohoo: . We've never had bad services over there.

Enjoy and hope you'll like Cape May as other DISers here.

I am glad there are so many positive reviews! We're going to dinner at Cape May in August with a group of 20, so we need lots of variety and an enjoyable experience! :)

We ate at CP and I loved a few of their desserts -

and those desserts were on the Cape May dessert tray!! :rotfl2:

I think Cape May does a nice buffet - and I think it is more peaceful than CP - so it just depends on where you are at the time!! Its a lot of food! YUMMM for both!!

It's one of our favorite restaurants. Even non-seafood eaters can get full here.

There is NO CHARACTERS at the dinner buffet - they are only at breakfast.

Oreo bon-bons rule!

It was one of the highlights of our trip for DS12. He can't wait to go back there. All of the adults enjoyed it as well - we had family who live in Orlando meet us there and the waiter was friendly and took good care of us. The buffet rarely ran out of food and things that were supposed to be hot were hot and things that were supposed to be cold were cold. Having never been to the Beach Club before I was quite impressed by the resort as well.

Shhhhh......... don't tell him but I'm making reservations for October - he doesn't know we're going to Orlando that week. Hoping to convince DH that it's going to be another Disney trip.
