We (13 adults and children) will be staying at Port Orleans over Thanksgiving and want to know opinions regarding the Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club. The buffet menu looks good for the varied tastes of our family but I would love to hear from someone who has eaten here. It is our 50th anniversary weekend and we would like something decent even if not spectacular.
thank you
Everett :cheer2:

Wow...that's a lot of people! :grouphug: Are you thinking of going for breakfast or dinner? The breakfast is a character meal and the dinner is a buffet featuring mostly seafood but other options as well.

I have not been to Cape May Cafe yet but was thinking of trying the character breakfast on my next trip.

We are planning Thanksgiving Dinner/late lunch and the buffet menu looks good--It is our whole family kids and grandkids.

Hi, My family HAS TO eat at the Cape May Dinner Buffet at least once each time we visit WDW! The food is very good and it is a fun atmosphere! It is also a GOOD place for a large group. I would LOVE to have Thanksgiving dinner there!! :thumbsup2 Joan

Thank you for your response. We looked at menu choices and with children from 10 up and adults (us) in our 70's it looked like a good choice. It is our 50th anniversary and we wanted a low key Thanksgiving Dinner. We will be going to Celebration for a 50th celebration at D'Antonio's. :jumping3:

Have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! And Congratulations on 50 years!! I have a GOOD friend that lives in SARASOTA! Joan

The Cape May Cafe Clambake (dinner buffet) is a good choice for a large group. In Jan. we had a group of 22 at the dinner. For our July trip we have reservations for a group of 10 and possibly adding four more. The buffet has a good variety to please lots of different tastes. Any clam, mussels, and shrimp lovers will really enjoy this buffet!!!

Happy 50th Anniversary!!!!! :)

What a FANTASTIC way to celebrate your anniversary!! :Pinkbounc You'll love Cape May... it is one of our families favorites! Certainly something for everyone and if your a clambake kind of person than your really in for a treat!! Certainly a thumbsup in my book :thumbsup2

Have a great time!! and Happy Anniversary!!!

Happy Anniversary!!!!
The Cape May Clam Bake is a wonderful meal. One side is dedicated to seafood and the other has the meats. There is also a salad side and the children's offerings on another. Great variety that will please everyone.
Save room for their great desserts!
Have a wonderful time and a great stay at WDW!

We love this restaurant.. Just went there 2 weeks ago. We've been with 9 people. I find that if you tell them in advance they are very helpful. Once we had 1 long table and another time we had two tables, one for the adults and one for the kids, both right next to each other. This is one restaurant that we go to almost every trip. It's a great choice for a lot of people at varying ages because it has soooo much to offer. I've never been on a holiday, but I would imagine they will have even more!!

ENJOY!!

We are also big fans of the Cape May Cafe. I found the restaurant on the first day of our honeymoon and thought that my DH would enjoy it because he loves seafood. We wound up very happy with our decision! We go back to Cape May on every vacation now, and each new person we take seems to enjoy it as well (my brother LOVES the mussels).

I think it would be a great choice for your group!

DH and I love Cape May Cafe. We went there in November of 2004, and it is the only sit down meal we are repeating on our upcoming trip. Being from Michigan, we don't get a lot of fresh seafood, so we thought it was great. We went with another couple (from Maryland) and they liked it as well. I think there are lots of choices (seafood, chicken, beef, lots of salads and sides) to please most anyone. Also, great desserts! This would be very fun for Thanksgiving, IMHO. DH said it was his favorite meal of the trip! Have fun!

An early Happy Anniversary to you.
DH & I love Cape May Cafe for supper. We are doing a "Favorite Restaurant Tour" in June and added just one night at Disney so we could start off with Cape May Cafe before we head over to Coca beach and then north. Cape May Cafe has enough variety of foods to satisfy most everyones tastes.

67 days till our Favorite Restaurant Tour - Auto Train to Florida - Cape May Cafe @ WDW, Florida Seafood Bar & Grill @ Cocoa Beach, Tavern on the Bay @ St. Augustine, Blues Southern BBQ @ I-95 Southbound Exit 3 Georgia, J Edwards & Seafare & Cagneys in Myrtle Beach, Tari's Place @ Berkley Springs WV

DH and I will be eating there on our last night at the World in about 4 weeks. We have to eat here at least once on each trip. The dinner is nice and relaxing. The food has always been good to great. If you like fresh cooked clams you will be in heaven. There is always plenty of variety and the dessert table is not to be missed! We have had the character breakfast there as well and we had a blast. If you time it right, you can eat and then walk (or boat) straight over to EPCOT. Overall one of our most favorite restaurants on property. We can't wait to go back! :thumbsup2

We are also huge fans of Cape May Cafe. The clam bake was great and so was the breakfast. We make sure we go at least once.

I think you've made a great selection in Cape May Cafe. My family had Thanksgiving there in 04 and we're going back this year!!!

We really appreciate your responses--We want this to be special in a casual sort of way and your feedback makes me more secure in planning this event. You can bet we will be on the phone making reservations 180 days out.Thank you all.

I also just made PSS for Cape May Cafe for dinner. We are 6 adults, the menu looks really good. The price isn't bad either. We're looking forward to this meal. :cheer2:

This is one of my favorite buffets. I think it is so because, of all the buffets, this one is actually kind of relaxing. The restaurant here is on the smaller side and it is just a bit more intimate. I think the food at the Grand Floridian buffet might be better but that place is so big and busy and noisy that I can hardly take it.

I think you will enjoy this buffet.

We love Cape May. :thumbsup2 It's a must-do every trip. DD9 insists on dinner there as she loves all the seafood.
