Hi i just looked at the menu and since we are seafood lovers it seems like a good choice. Has anyone done this one? Tell me all about it! :sunny: Also, what park is it closest to? I am trying to coordinate park days to closest restaurants. THanks!

Have done it several times. It's one of our favorite places. They do specialize in seafood but there are other choices as well. Cape May Cafe is at The Beach Club resort. It is right next door to Epcot and you can walk to Epcot from the Beach club. You just go over the bridge and you end up in England!

I think it's worth it. But don't go expecting an authentic clambake or gourmet seafood -- it IS a buffet! The seafood is reasonably good considering, but the real draw is that there are (literally) three other sides to the buffet that are also good, plus an excellent dessert table. The last time I was there I swear there were some women who got nothing but desserts!

This is a warning signal for me. Seafood lovers are much less likely to enjoy this than folks who are more casual seafood eaters. The more you love seafood, the more disappointed I suspect you may be.

We love this buffet, but not necessarily for the seafood (we live in a small coastal town, fish markets sell fish with the gills still moving. We're spoiled!). Cape May has historically been one of the best deals on property (price vs. quality). I just made an ADR here for our trip in August. We love the desserts too, especially the Oreo Bon-bons.

I though it was very good in Oct.

By the way, it's a 5 minute walk from the International Gate at Epcot, or a 20 minute walk or boat ride from MGM. (edited: Sorry Loralie! I must have answered about 5 seconds before you did!)

I do not like seafood and have never eaten there but to answer your question about which park is closer the answer is EPCOT. MGM is also just a short boat ride away.

Have fun planning,

Loralie

Sorry...I just looked back and realized that the park part of the question was answered.

Is this a character buffet or just a regular buffet? And if its character, what characters are there? :sunny:

Breakfast is character buffet, dinner is not. Characters were Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Chip & Dale. I think that was all.

We've done both breakfast & dinner and enjoyed them both.

Enjoy your trip! :goodvibes

We ate there in December and we enjoyed it! The mussels were really good, the clams were O. K. :thumbsup2

DD and I stayed at the Beach Club on Friday night for a little get away, and ate at both the Clam Bake Buffet on Friday night - very good food, far more than just seafood, and the character breakfast on Saturday. They had a wonderful buffet, lots of yummy choices, and the character interaction was great. It seems to be quieter then say Donald's at AK (which we did last weekend, and liked as well) or even the Princess Breakfast at Norway - this was much more relaxed, and we did not feel hurried at all. We had great fun with the characters, the CM that was with them, and the servers! We will surely do this again! We saw Minnie, Goofy, Dale, and then before we left, Chip came out to replace Dale - (they are not out at the same time). The picture in my signature is my DD with Minnie.

I'm a seafood lover too, but I was disappointed in this buffet in respect to its seafood choices. I was expecting many seafood choices and it turned out to be just shrimp, clams and mussels. You could also order Alaskan crab legs, however they were an additional $12.50. Now I did enjoy the other buffet selections and desserts, however since it was billed as a clambake I was just expecting more seafood choices.

We always take a walk over to the Boardwalk after dinner and enjoy the entertainment. It's a good way to walk off some of the yummy desserts we just stuffed ourself with. :goodvibes
