Our family dined at Cape May Cafe on Sat May 28th. We ate there a few trips ago and thought it was okay. Since they added the crab legs, DH insisted on returning. We were staying at POR & getting to the Beach Club was such a pain! We were planning to go to DHS & then catching the boat to BC. Well... The DHS bus never showed. We were at the bus stop 90 minutes before our ADR and ended up being late. When DTD was the only bus to show up after 15 min of waiting, DH insisted on taking it, against my better judgment. The DTD buses are a nightmare, in my opinion. When we finally arrived at Cape May, the host told us he had removed our name from the system because we were late. I was surprised by this since we were only 10 min late but okay... He said he'd put our name back on the list & we'd have to wait a while. This didn't go over so well with DH. This meal was not off to a great start. Luckily, we only waited about 5 minutes. Once we were seated, our very friendly server took our drink orders. Poor DH was so disappointed when the crab leg pans were completely empty. :scared1: While we all enjoyed the fried shrimp, cornbread, macaroni & cheese & mashed potatoes, DH was bummed about the crab legs. After the rest of us were finished with our meals, DH finally got his crab legs. Our server seemed to forget about us as our glasses sat empty for most of our meal. We were on the free dining offer so I felt like we couldn't really complain but we were just very disappointed in the whole evening.

thanks for reviewing - shame your experience wasn't better. We are booked to stay at the Beach Club for the first time next year and have never been to any of the Yacht and Beach restaurants.

Could non-fish eaters get a decent choice do you think? TIA

They have chicken, some kind of beef, tons of salads & side dishes. I am not a seafood fan & I was happy with the choices. I ate some shrimp but no other seafood. They are well known for their desserts. I love their mini key lime pies & mini cupcakes. I think it must be the whole mini aspect! :thumbsup2

THANK YOU - sounds great

Great review, we were not impressed either last time we went there. :thumbsup2

Oh no sounds like a stressful night! Crab legs and fried shrimp were the reasons I booked Cape May so I too will be crushed if they dont have them out..

Were they just waiting for them to be prepared or were they not planning on putting more out? I didnt know if they just brought ur DH crab legs

I think they were just having a hard time keeping up with demand. They would set a pan out & it would be empty within a minute or two. Since it was a holiday weekend & free dining, they may have just underestimated how busy they were going to be. :confused3
