Which would you choose and why? We mainly are wanting some good crab legs.

I was at Cape May x2 about 2 weeks ago during free dining and had very, very good crab legs. Plump and fresh. All you can eat. And I ate . . . beaucoup. The entire buffet was excellent. I haven't tried the Captain's Grille so no insights there.

My husband really enjoyed his crab legs at Captain's Grille. He said they were meaty and sweet! We enjoyed our meal there. We liked it so much we ate there twice on our last trip. Both meals were excellent and we had great service.

Cape May Buffet is good if you've got a lot of people with varying tastes as they have more choices. I don't think the food quality is as good as CG

Cape May Cafe. We had dinner at captains grill once and the food was horrible. We both had steaks so I don't know about the crab legs.

We prefer Captain's Grille. We avoid Cape May Cafe!
I have heard good reviews for Captain's Grille. We are staying at the Beach Club and are eating breakfast at Cape May but thought we might try Captain's Grille for dinner .

Oh that is good to hear about the crab legs !

For me Captains Grille. I personally think it is one of those well kept secrets at Disney. While not a heavily themed restaurant it is quiet, offers good service and pretty decent food as well. If it's crab legs you want the snow crab legs at Captains Grille are much better than the stringy, anorexic and often cold crab legs found on the buffet table at Cape May. The other menu items IMO are also much better at CG than they are at CM. I am not a fan of buffets at all; I'd rather have quality over quantity any day. For me Cape May is nothing more than your typical made for the masses institutional buffet food slapped out for the droves of people lining up in a line to serve their plates with local Chinese restaurant quality crab legs to draw attention to itself. For those who love this place this is not an attack... To each their own.

Yes, I agree, 'to each their own'!

We went to one of those Chinese places 'once' - many years ago when we didn't know better - never again!

Now, when at Disney, we go to Cape May where we have 'never' been disappointed in the full, hot crab legs. We are from the coast and love our seafood of all kinds.
It's a classy buffet (Disney style) and we love it.

Like both restaurants, but once I had the crab legs at Captains Grille, we go back each trip! Some of the best steaks on property also. Th new potatoes were also little bits of heaven!

That looks really good! Yummy thanks for posting.

What bothers me about Cape May Café is the fishy smell that permeates throughout the place. I almost get ill just walking past it when they are serving dinner.

Two weeks from tomorrow I get to make my ADRs. I am still so torn between the two of them. One minute I think I am picking Cape May. The next day I change it to Captain's Grille. :confused3 I am so confused!

It looks like we are going to be there before you. I will let you know which one we chose and let you know after. If you would like.

You obviously do not like clambakes and seafood boils then - sorry for you!! :goodvibes

Does anyone know if the crab legs are served each day at Cape May. The menu on Allears is a bit confusing--it would appear, based upon the posted menu--that the Crab legs are only served Sunday and Wednesday. Should the menu be read that it is the Batter-Fried Shrimp that is served Sunday and Wednesday or the string of items prior to the days listed. I guess I would have the same question about the Mussels, Fried Clam strips and Paella since these items are also listed in a string with the days following? :confused3

Seafood Selections - Steamed Mussels with Tomato Fennel Broth, Fried Clam Strips, Paella (Sun, Mon, Wed, Thurs & Sat), Bacalao (Tues & Fri), Snow Crab Legs, Steamed Clams, Herb-Marinated Salmon, Batter-Fried Shrimp (Sun & Wed), Batter-Fried Calamari (Tue & Fri), Fried Cod Nuggets (Mon, Thurs & Sat)
Since we definitely want the crab legs, I want to be sure we have an ADR on the correct day IF the crab legs are only served on limited days. It has been 10 years since we dined at CMB and back then the legs were an item each day. :thumbsup2

We don't eat seafood so I'm not much help there, but we did have one of the absolute best meals on property at Captain's Grille. I had a delicious melt in your mouth pork dish, DH had a pasta special that was described as "like" beef stroganoff and MIL had a vegetarian special of homemade raviolis. All of us agreed it was an amazing meal. Even the kids steaks were awesome.
