Cape May Buffet

Not to hijack, but would anyone go there who doesn't eat shellfish OR pork? It's for health, not religious, reasons, so it being there isn't a problem, I just choose not to eat it. I've actually wanted to go because I adore the beach club, just ruled it out because of the fare...

I ate here last week for the first time and we loved it! Lots of the dishes were above par for buffet food. DH ate 13 crab leg bundles! I don't know how to link but if you check under food review on probably the second page i did a review this week titled "quick service and cape may dinner reviews." ENJOY!

Two Words...(Maybe three depending on how you look at it..)

OREO BON-BONS. :woohoo:

The seafood is good. But last time we were there during Christmas, and they introduced the Christmas buffet where the price went up 7 dollars per person. So we skipped it last year. I personally enjoy the food. My parents on the other hand think they can get more for their money elsewhere.

I think i'm the only one who didn't like it. Maybe its bc i'm from NE and go to real clam bakes a lot. The seafood isn't very good quality, and their new england clam chowder is really just putrid. Dessert was pretty good however, they have some great choices.

We did enjoy our dinner at Cape May in April. I thought the crab legs and clams were very tasty, but I agree about the chowder....yuck! We stay at the BC, so it is nice to be able to eat at the resort.

We don't eat shellfish or meat of any kind and we still keep going back to Cape May. The salad side of the buffet is great and there is a wonderful vegetarian tomato bisque available most of the time. There is always one non-shellfish offered and one pasta main dish. On the occasions when the pasta had meat in it, the chef came out to consult and prepared for us wonderful pasta with veggies. I am pretty sure there has also always been some kind of vegetable dish. (There might be a poultry dish too, but since we don't eat that I don't remember.)

Finally, as others have said, the desserts are outstanding!

This is rarely a good option at any buffet. The modifiers and starches that would be used to get this to stand up to being on heat for an extended period of time result in a sad substance. Regardless of the buffet venue, just say "no" to this or bisques unless it is a restaurant that specializes in the dishes and has a reputation for delivery of good results. For example, a Sunday brunch at a restaurant that makes great bisques might include good bisque. But in general, these are not good buffet fare.
