Cape May Buffet

We ate there for breakfast and loved it! The food was great as well as the character interaction. It's a definite must do again!

We have dined here many times for breakfast and dinner and just love it! If you click on my Oct link there are threads on both meals and a ton of pics too

Wow. Just checked out your dining photos from Cape May- I wasn't sure, but now I am! WE WILL eat there this trip! :thumbsup2

I have only had dinner there. The pre-mixed salads and the desserts were GREAT. the carving station had top sirloin and it was only OK. The chicken and ribs were nothing remarkable at all. THe peel and eat shrimp were good, but far from the best I've ever had. The clams were extra gritty. Yes, I know some grit is normal, but I began to fear for my tooth enamel. Service was excellent.
It's not at the top of my list, but I will return someday.

We did dinner there earlier this month and were very disappointed. Most was due to our table though. We were seated beside the buffet, as close as you could get. I'll tell you the lines to the buffet were LONG, and stayed that way the entire meal. Don't think you'll be able to walk up for food without a pretty long wait. We were right where the lines on either side met, with the baby in the middle of them. There were people practically pressed up against his highchair, constantly staring at us as we tried to eat dinner. I wish I were exaggerating on the "staring" comment. It was unpleasant. I should have pushed for a different table when we were first seated, but I never thought it would be so bad. Service was pretty poor, as well. Our waitress didn't come round very often. When she did, she would stand beside our table f-o-r-e-v-e-r, watching the boys and saying nothing. It was pretty odd. :confused3

As for the food, dh said it wasn't bad. This is his type of food, so I guess that's positive. Our boys barely touched a thing. I'm not super huge on seafood and came away feeling it was insanely priced for a buffet. (But aren't they all?)

Lots of people love it though, and that's why we gave it try. Hope you have a great time! :goodvibes

Just be aware that they misrepresent this buffet in the name.

Clams yes, seafood, yes. Clambake = a Big Fat NO.

Most of the items on the buffet are NOT traditional claim bake items (even the clams are not traditional). You will be sorely disappointed if you are looking for the traditional items.

We ate there in September 2008 and were among the disappointed crew -- NOT a clambake as advertised. Yes, there was peel and eat shrimp, but no crab legs. The ribs (at a clambake??) were ok, as was most of the buffet. Nothing special about it.

The server was less than "Disney-like" and the restaurant was very noisy. When we asked to be moved away from a table with four young, screaming children, we were told "This *is* Disney World...what did you expect?"

Whereas "Have a Magical Day!" is the happiest greeting we share, "Don't have a Cape May Day!" has become another "Good luck" wish.

Never again!

We ate there last week. I thought it was good. There were salads, chicken breast, pasta, corn on the cob ,pizza, two carving stations one was beef the (other was either pork or turkey I am not sure.) peel and eat shrimp, clams, mussels, ribs. T

The oreo bon bons on the dessert table were the best.

For that matter - crabs legs and shrimp aren't part of a clambake either. Mussels aren't common. And where are the hotdogs or sausages? Or the lobster?

The food I've seen in pictures looked good and the menu has plenty of variety - just total misnomer. When I told DH the name and then told him the menu - he said what???

In fact, if we went expecting a traditional clambake then didn't get it - you'd been darn right we'd write a negative review.

I agree that it's not really a clambake, but DH and I still like it. He likes clams, mussels, and shrimp, while I go for the chicken (which is very moist). I also love the salads, especially the seafood one, and the corn bread. We make our ressie for right at opening and run right up to the buffet to avoid the long lines.

We really like Cape May. (Okay, my DH loves it!) We went there once in September, twice in March, and twice in May. We're also planning on going there at least once in October. We've never had a bad experience.
