Anyone here have any experience taking the bus to Logan airport from Burger King on the Cape? We have done it many times but after JB changed our flight (several times) we are now leaving Logan at 6am. We have never taken such an early flight, but no other good options. The bus leaves Burger King at 3:15 getting to Logan at 4:55am. It does not stop at South Station on that run so I am thinking it may be a bit quicker than usual, especially given the early am time , a Sunday too. We have TSA precheck. I never cut it close at the airport and always wind up waiting for boarding. Am I pushing it too far ?

To me, a 4:55 arrival for a 6:00 flight, even with PreCheck, is cutting it way too close. I would maybe look into a one-way car rental.

I have not taken the bus, but I would be too nervous with only an hour to spare. Have you looked at driving up the night before and staying in a hotel (either in Braintree and take Logan Express) or the hotels on 1A (I know the Courtyard Marriott on 1A offers free shuttles to the airport)

Or if you don't want to rent a car, take the bus in the night before. Like you, I've taken the bus (though usually from Hyannis, not the Burger King) many times but never that early and never without a nice buffer.

You have 2 deadlines. Deadline to check bags is 40 minutes before your flight, You must be in the gate area 15 minutes prior to departure. If the plane is loaded fast enough the plane might push back at 5:45. 50 minutes to check luggage, clear security and get to the gate is doable You'll probably make your flight (probability is greater then 50%)

A poster on a travel forum said a pax who never missed a flight is a pax who wasted too much time in airports through the years.

Does Jet Blue have later flights, possibly connecting at JFK. Many airlines have a flat tire rule, you don't literally need a flat tire. Get to the gate within an hour or 2 of your flight and you'll be accommodated on the next flight, space available basis without paying difference in fare. I don't know Jet Blues policy.
Can you get a bus previous afternoon and stay at an airport hotel?

I'm going to, slightly disagree with PP. Accepting the risk, and possibly having to plead your case with Jet Blue might be better then the guaranteed inconvenience of getting to an airport hotel the day before.

All good suggestions...all of which I have mulled over at length. My husband has offered to drive us up to Logan (if he has recovered from an upcoming hip surgery). If not probably a limo to Logan. I am the epitome of the pax who" wasted too much time in airports through the years "..... always early /on time. Too many things can go wrong on the bus. Thanks all!

You have to know yourself - would you rather be bored at the airport or worried on the bus/car/taxi/whatever?

For the benefit of others reading this thread...This might be the exception that makes the rule. There probably isn't an earlier bus. OP will all most certainly be in Logan before the plane departs. There are many later flights, some N/S and some connecting. Under the circumstances Jet Blue might accommodate them at no charge on a later flight, otherwise a fee but no fare difference.

Where are you seeing that? I’ve read back and I don’t see that the OP ever said where they were flying to. What she did say is that there are no other good options - one would assume if there was a later flight (that didn’t get them home too late), they’d have taken that instead (since they are only on this flight due to changes by the airline).

I agree with concept (sometimes the risk is worth it - like short connections), I just quesiton this assertion (on which the final choice would largely be based).

I’d also factor in the pain of a getting a bus at 3:15am.

They changed our original flight from 11:15 am to 10:15 am then to 10am. They then cancelled the flight completely and put my friend and I on separate flights....hers nonstop and mine with a layover. My buddy has mobility issues and counts on me to assist her at times. It literally takes us 12 hours from our doorsteps to the Boardwalk (and that is with a nonstop flight) so we do our very best to minimize whatever travel hassles we can. In the scheme of life, this is not a big issue, always grateful to be able to go!!

This is a Disney board, without additional information I'll post assuming destination is MCO. I wouldn't make that assumption if this was a general travel board. My answer would be dramatically different if poster was taking a flight with only one flight a day. I would absolutely not risk it for an international flight.

My point, the possibility of spending a few hours in Logan for a later flight, standing by for a later flight vs the certainty of having to stay overnight at an airport hotel.

Might be worth calling, even with a long hold. or social media contact. Under the circumstances it is reasonable to try and get you on the same flight.

Lewisc, I did call JetBlue...2 1/2 wait on the phone with the option to leave a phone number and have them call back. Which they did at exactly the quoted time. The agent was super helpful and got us on the same flight which was the 6am. The only other nonstop before late afternoon only had one seat available. The surprise to us was the fact they cancelled 2 nonstops that JB has had for years (we have been doing this since the 90's) that are always completely full. Even messaged them on FB, they also responded, took about 2 hours.

How long ago was this? Maybe try again (people cancel)? Or at least look online to see if anything has opened up.

Excellent point about MCO (that was definitely a « duh » moment on my part). Though, the further updates from the OP make it sound pretty much like it is effectively a one flight a day situation (since it seems like late afternoon doesn’t work for them).

I will be checking these flights daily...I never received any notification from JetBlue about any changes. I have randomly checked our flights for awhile because of all the uncertainty in the airline industry at the moment. I noticed it yesterday, dealt with it immediately but not sure when it was actually changed. I would say I am a pretty typical obssessed Disboards WDW traveler....lol ! SirDuff, JetBlue has lots of flights out of Logan to MCO, used to be 5 0r 6 nonstops daily with lots of options with layovers. My friend would struggle doing a layover which is why we are so particular about which flight we book.

You need to call Jet Blue. If you can't get through use social media. They should be able to get you both on the same non stop even if u can't do it online

Lewisc, my last post explains our resolution. We are at least on the same flight....not ideal but we will take it. JetBlue responded as best they could..

My 2 cents comment Try and decline your husbands offer. Way too early and way too long (round trip) for most people, even worse for someone just recovering from hip surgery.

Yes, that’s what I was trying (clearly not well) to get at with the « effectively ». On paper (on screen), there are many options, but for you, there really is only that one. It also sounds like you wouldn’t be able to rush from check-in to security to the gate.

When is your flight (sorry, if I missed it)? Hopefully something opens up between now and then and you can get a better timed flight for you and your friend.

Also - make sure that your reservations are now linked so that, if there are any other changes, JetBlue keeps you together. Hopefully, the agent who moved your flights did that (linked the reservations).
