Cape Cod, Massachusetts

Hi all,

I am looking for an oceanfront resort on Cape Cod for next summer. I was originally looking for a house on the beach, but have not found anything. Does anyone know if we can trade for anything on the beach on the Cape? What service would/should I look to for something like this? Any help is appreciated.

There are three member getaway options on the Cape. Beachside Village and Surfside Resort, both in Falmouth. Also, Brewster Green Resort in Brewster, Cape Cod. These are usually done for weeklong trades.

Unfortunately, I don't know anything about these resorts. Anybody else have first-hand experience?

Where did you find the member get-away info? Also - I had read somewhere that there was a trade board somewhere that was trading 1 week at a Disney resort for 2 weeks at their timeshares. Anyone ever heard of this?

I am familar with a few of the Cape options. Surfside I have stayed at many times. It is actually across the street from the beach, It is a nice small resort beach, Units are in good shape and has some nice pool options. This resort is just outside of downtown Falmouth. I am not familar with Brewster Green, I did check out the P town property two weeks ago, Sorry can not remember the name, It looked very run down. Any Yarmouth propery would have a nice beach and you are a bit removed from the action, but rt, 28 in Yarmouth is a very busy, mini golf fastfood type of place. granted the resort would be off the beaten path but you would have to contend with the strip, when leaving the property. May I suggest some non beach front alternatives? One is Sea Mist resort in Mashpee. It has a wonderful huge indoor pool and sauna, An outdoor pool with a 2 and a half foot section for the little ones, Ping pong, basketball, and a minigolf course from the kids. The property is immaculate. It is approx 2 miles away from New Seabury where there is an upscale marketplace, raw bar, pizza, music on summer evenings, about a mile down the road from there a beautiful reservation beach. all of these things including the property are on one road. Approx 1 mile in the other direction is an upscale town hub called Mashpee Commons. Shops, food, a walking type commons. The pther lternative would be Cape Holiday estates, also on the same road in Mashpee. Less ameneties than Sea Mist, smaller pool, no mini golf, about a mile closer to the beach. So In this order I would go Sea MIst Or Surfside being equal I guess? Than maybe Cape Holiday and Yarmouths resorts, Do not forget though thats personnel preferance but I have based it on what I just told you! Good Luck!

Just reread your post, If we are talking Interval trades, The properties I mentioned are in the member directory, On the Interval world website, under the Cape cod Highlight, And I did trade my week, at one of these local places back into Intervals Inventory to get another DVC week. I own the week for pool rights in the Winter for the kids. I am not familar with Beachside in Falmouth, There is one in Yarmouth called Bayside not sure if it is in the inventory.

There's a listing for Massachusetts on Page 151 of the Member Guidebook. You can probably find more detail about the resorts on the Member website.

Beachside must be fairly new or small. It's not listed with TUG. Surside is the highest rated resort, 8.0 on TUG. None are 5* with II or GC with RCI. Getting one for summer will be difficult or maybe impossible due to the lack of units.

The only ways I know to get 2 weeks for one are to negotiate a direct exchange or use one of the indepent exchange companies that will give you a bonus week. II does not give DVC members the option of bonus weeks or purchasing getaways, unfortunately.Beachside II page

I could not resist hopping in here. My dh sells time share at the SeaMist that was mentioned above and actually started in the business at Surfside and then worked at Beachside until it was sold out. Beachside is fairly new only being completed in the last couple of years. It is very lovely,most units would have an oceanview, a very small resort compared to DVC standards but really has the quaint Cape Cod feel to it. Surfside is a bit larger with some full oceanviews and lots of partial oceanviews. And the poster was correct about Sea Mist, it is the oldest of the resorts mentioned but has the most amenities and perfectly maintained. I do know that some owners at these resorts do get 2 weeks at another resort in exhange for their red weeks. The system is different from the DVC point system so it is hard to compare. Though it is difficult to trade into these resorts, it is certainly not impossible.

I know Brewster Green. My parents own there. It is not on the ocean at all. This is not the place to go for an oceanside resort. It is a really well kept resort, but not up to disney standards.

Brewster is not far from the Beaches on the bayside of the cape and the National Seashore beaches (my favorites) and the rail trail for bicycles goes right through town. Bicycle is my favorite way to travel the cape in the summer due to traffic overload.

I have eaten lunch several times at the Lighthouse Inn, I live here, actually right in Dennis so I have not stayed at this resort. This was featured once on a local Boston show called Chronicle which showcases many different aspects of living in New England. After seeing the show I had to go over and see this place for myself, it looked so intriguing. It is directly on the water. a very old-fashioned, very family oriented resort....a throwback to the days when a family would come to Cape Cod for an entire summer. They actually have meal plans where you can eat at the resort's dining room for breakfast, lunch and dinner or any combination. On the wall of the dining room they have a group photo of the staff for each summer since they have been open since either the 30's or 40's....do not remember exactly. It is not the kind of full service resort like a Disney DVC but it looks very lovely and fun and definately from a time gone by. The food was OK but sitting outside to eat, about 20 ft from the water, priceless!
