Well, I haven't really let anyone know what has been going on with us in the last week. Let's just say, it has been a VERY rough week.
Gabe and Charity started a new school this year. Charity has really be struggling academically. She failed the first two tests she took at the new school. She immediately began going to tutoring in the mornings before classes started. Last week they got progress reports, and she had straight A's. We THOUGHT she had finally adjusted and things were on the upswing. Then yesterday, she brought home another failed test!It is just very frustrating. She is a smart girl, we know that. She is just having a terrible time adjusting to a new way of learning things. She has done the same type of curriculum since she was three years old.
On top of all of this, Brian got hit with a kidney stone last week!He started the process of passing it last Thursday morning...and it STILL has not passed!!!!
The meds they gave him to take have make him terribly nauseous. So they gave him meds for nausea. Nothing is working. They tell him to drink lots of fluids. He does drink lots of fluids....and nothing stays down.
This morning he had ex-rays taken...and the stone has traveled back up to his kidney!
He is currently visiting a urologist to find out what the next step should be.
Any prayers you want to say for our family would be much appreciated.
Thanks everyone for your super kind words, your prayers, your pixie dust, and your cheering! You all are so special to me. I enjoy visiting your "dis-homes" every day. Your encouragement means more than you could ever know!
So, here is an update on Brian. After having X-rays done it was discovered that the stone had not moved at all since Thursday when the CT scan was done. He had to have the stone surgically removed yesterday. It was quite the ordeal. They had to put in a stint because his kidneys were so backed up. He was put under with anesthesia for the procedure, and then got EXTREMELY sick from the anesthesia after coming back out of it.This morning he woke up a brand new man! He now feels amazingly better, and is no longer in pain, grumpy or irritable.
He will have to go back under anesthesia again next week to have the stint removed. But we are all just so grateful that the worst is over. AND we are all so grateful that this didn't happen on vacation!
And speaking of vacation... over the weekend we hit the TEENS on our countdown!!!As of today, we are just 16 days from vacation!!!
Do you know what will make LEAVING vacation this year easier? WE leave to come back home on October 11...exactly one year from our sail away date on the Disney Fantasy!!!

HOOOOOOOOOOOORAY!!!! ON NOT HAVING A GRUMPY HUSBAND! what's that like anyhow???![]()
Good morning oopsi. So glad your DH is better and on the road to recovery; I wanted to post earlier but life got in the way; have sent prayers for DH and your DD; hang in there and keep praying for her; my youngest DS had a terrible time in middle school; many issues affected his grades; but he has since taken off in high school and made great friends; lots of time on the knees in prayer! Keep your chin up, keep encouraging her and getting her to talk; she will find her way. She has great parents and siblings that surround her.
I am so excited for your vacay coming up! I did not see your last PM; PM away, I have so much to share!!!
HOOOOOOOOOOOORAY!!!! ON NOT HAVING A GRUMPY HUSBAND! what's that like anyhow??? So happy he is doing so so much better!!! OHHHHHHHH one year! i know how that feels now!!!
can't wait to plan WITH you! you can never get rid of me....![]()
Yay, glad Brian is doing so much better.I totally understand getting sick under anesthesia, happens to me too. Have him ask the doctor to give him some anti-nausea meds before the next procedure and that should help him immensely.
for 16 days, your trip is coming up so fast!
Okay, I got all my responses done and an update to my TR, and I come here and read your awesome news that you no longer have a Grumpy husband. That is awesome.
I'm glad he is feeling better...and yay for only 16 days.
Glad he is on his way to recovery!
I cannot WAIT to hear about you carrying your bag up Main Street for Wishes!!! And I DEFINATELY want I Spy photos for my album!!!! More than anything - I want you all to create the most magical memories!
Hugs to Charity... We moved to our current house/town when the girls were in 2nd and 3rd grade - it pains me to say that it took Victoria YEARS to adjust and settle - it was NOT an easy move and transition for her. There are still many things she struggles with. I pray that Charity's transition is much easier than Victoria's was.
I was very happy to hear that Brian is feeling better... I was saying lots of prayers for him, until I got to your post that he is doing much better this morning. What a relief! I can't imagine the pain he was in. Praise the Lord this didn't happen while on vacation.
AND WHOOT for being at 16 days! That sure snuck up on me! And then to be exactly ONE year from sailing when you arrive home! How cool is that? I am so looking foward to hearing you plan for your cruising trip - what a fantastic celebration to an end to the hard times!!! You have been such a great Dis friend for such a long time - I am so THRILLED for you that you have so much to look forward to and plan with your family this upcoming year.
I just love my Dis friends - I am lucky enough to have some of the BEST out there!
