Can't we all play nice?

At the risk of starting a thread that will be my FIRST locked one....

I've been reading the boards today, and I gotta say - can't we all just play nice and continue to encourage eachother instead of nasty and hateful innuendos?

We all have different lifestyles, but we do have one thing in common. The DIS.

It's impossible for 50,000 people to agree on ANYTHING. Let's accept that, and know that we all have differing opinions and respect them. We don't have to like them or agree with them, but mutual respect is the only way we're going to get back to having fun!

So let's get back to having fun here, ok? PLEASE???

Please only reply if you will be encouraging, uplifting, and kind. But I will respect your opinion regardless.

Everyone seems a little tetchy today. I've been on quite a few of the different boards today (not very busy at work!!!) and people seem a little out of sorts. Perhaps we all need a holiday!! Dare I suggest WDW?

I haven't seen anyone being particularly nasty today. Differing opinions, if they are respectfully stated, are not nasty, they are just differing opinions.

You are correct...50,000 people are not going to agree on everything. That's what makes the board interesting.

Sorry to make this all serious again, but you just said more or less how I have been feeling for a long time on the CB now. I don't mind honesty ever, I just feel there is a good and bad way about saying things. You can respectfully disagree or respectfully give a dissenting opinion, but it seems to happen less now. It really is sad when people have problems in their lives and they come here to share their issues and they get attacked. There are real people here, with real lives and real feelings... it seems like some don't get that or maybe they just don't care. Long standing DISers seem to be drifting away and I know in at least some cases it isn't because they don't have the time to be here anymore, it's because they don't have the desire to be here. They get tired of the picking and the hurting and so they back off... sometimes for a few days or a few weeks and sometimes for good. Words do hurt, even through the internet...

Maybe I have been here too long and keep wishing for things to be more like they used to be. Oh, hell, I doubt I wish it could be like the old ways, but maybe I wish I had that big family feeling here... and that seems to have been missing for a long time now. I just wish people respected each other more and using more respectful words and even using the back button instead of the submit button is sometimes a very wonderful thing (trust me I do it too).

I guess I'll hush now before I say something I'll really regret....
