Can't we all just get along?!?

I think where your daughter works and most places in the US where there are waiters, there are vast differences. Most servers get paid less than $3 an hour. They depend on tips. I think it is outragous, but that is how it is.

But what I'm trying to say is that if it can work in some situations why can't it work elsewhere?

I thought this thread was going to be a big arguement, but I'm finding it very funny to bring up all the pet peeves on one thread. Although I lurk a lot, I'm still not a frequent poster. I've learned so mch reading these boards in the past 2 years, but now I am somewhat nervous about my trip. I never realized so many things that bothered people. Never really thought getting a seat at CS places could be considered table hogging. Didn't know taking a kid out of line to go to the bathroom was such a prob- never did it, but if it comes up during my next trip I will really feel bad to do it. I never thought to wear a birthday pin if it wasn't our birthday- DH's Bday is 2 days after we leave, didn't occur to me to celebrate while we're there. I honestly didn't think twice about my 6 year old sharing a double stroller with his younget brother when he was tired, nor did I notice anyone elses stroller. Boy, I'm learning alot! I really feel I need to watch my step!

Please do as you would normally and pay no mind to the moral police on these boards. I first started on these board last year before our trip and in my opinion it did not have a good affect. I was like you and constantly watching what others did or what I did (not in a good way).

It really was a downer. I noticed things I would have never noticed before. It took some time but I realized all these people with posts like "I think this is wrong" or "I can't believe that child was in a stroller" etc. no doubt makes choices that I would never make or lives a life I would never choose to live. SO DO WHAT IS RIGHT IN YOUR EYES and leave it at that. People get on here to vent often times about nothing that has to do with Disney they just take it out on everyone on these boards. The perfect Disney guest does not exist nor will it ever. Oh yeah and tip what you feel is fair. It is your conscience not someone elses that you don't even know that lives who knows where and posts on these boards.

However there is a lot of good info on here that can make a trip extra special. Like I said just don't let the ones who feel like they need to be your mama ruin your trip.

When you make generalized comments like the one about only getting courage from a gun and badge, it will hurt those who have family in that profession, even if you are not talking about that one specific person.

I don't care if he had a disclaimer or not. His comment was just down right hurtful to everyone.

Come on, seriously? In that case, you're offending me by not reading the content of the post and making summary statements of people who make posts like that. There are plenty of people who join the military for the wrong reasons, and its been done in documentaries (gang members that join for all the wrong reasons) and police officers aren't all angels. One here murdered someone on video last year and his 3 fellow officers attempted to cover it prior to the video's release.

You're offending other police officers by blindly insisting they are all amazing and perfect and true heroes. They are people and they're no better than anyone else. Your tag indicates a generalization of police, firefighters etc., its just different than the OPs, so consider that. It would be very hurtful to someone's family who was murdered by a police officer if you told them they're all true heroes. Much more hurtful than the OPs statement that some are a certain way, but not all are.

Sorry for the OT. This is a really good example of it being taken personally for no reason at all, which is why the tips debate gets so hot. Something gets said and somehow someone on the internet you dont even know interprets it as direct assault on their person, despite it just being a personal opinion and given that the person with that opinion doesn't even know the other one, there is no way its personal.

Oh, if you've never been a server before, watch "Waiting" with Ryan Reynolds starring, it is hilarious. A look into a servers world :rotfl: :rotfl:

To truly get people riled up, you have to be more specific, like I tipped 25% while nursing my baby at the table of the restaurant that I had chosen out of the 6 dinner ADRs I had made so I could have my pick and sharing my buffet meal with a child who got in free because I lied about their age while character hogging and I ran my double stroller that I did not pay for, I just took from a ride and ran into 66 ankles on the way here. Did I leave anything out?

And you handed each kid a refillable mug -- which you saved from your last three vacations.

Once we finished refilling the McD's mugs at the AS drink station, we wenta pool hoppin'. The little ones sucked some slurpee drink right outta the machine at Pop, and nobody said we couldn't. Then we headed right over to Soarin', and 12 of us went over to get fastpasses (2 sets, using our park passes AND room keys), while we left Joe holding our spot in line....:rolleyes1

Did you, and your children, smoke on the way :P

I don't think that Disney takes away your right to choose with the DDE card, you can choose not to buy it. Disney can put whatever restrictions on it they want.QUOTE]

But we had already bought the card when they imposed the restrictions on it - that is changing the goalposts as we say here :)

We bought it for our trip this July when we will be 10 - me and hubby, our 5 offspring and their 'hangers-on'! - to celebrate our 30th anniversary. We intend to eat at buffets mainly for speed and good choice of food for everyone. Not all our party are earning so we are paying for quite a few of them and even with the card can only afford to eat at TS buffets about 5 times over the 2 weeks. The average price for us will be $300 (not the 'average $60 as mentioned above). We had budgeted to leave a tip of 10% ($30) now we will have to leave a tip of $54 - $24 more - so it does make quite a big difference to us. If we ate at a TS restaurant every night for 14 days and left 18% tip it would mount up to $756

Not sure if it makes you feel better or not, but Disney has always tacked on an 18% tip for parties of 6 or more, even for the buffets.

I like to save money by making that great salad using free fixin's at Pecos Bill. The new $1.99 charge for an extra bun hasn't made a dent in my budget!!! :rotfl2:

Seconded. Don't forget the people on this site tend to be a bit more . . . passionate about Disney than the average person. Sometimes we make up rules of proper WDW etiquette that really only exist in our own minds.

Don't apologize, these were necessary responses.

Obviously you have no idea what you are talking about here. This statement is hurtful to people who have family members in the police force and put their life on the line everyday to keep us safe. Even people that are thankless like you.

Look at my tag and you'll see you have offend me and my family.

Get out of here with that. Read my WHOLE post before you comment. My best friend is a police officer and one of my friend's wife is also. My mother, father, and wife were all in the military. I've lived on military installations until 06. I know people that's been and are in Iraq right now. One of my wife's best friends is there as I type this, so don't give me that crap about not knowing what I'm talking about. An officer can tell you himself that there are people like I spoke about. Read it ALL next time.
