Anyone else eagerly awaiting the point chart for DVC Hawaii? We are hoping to be able to reserve at 7 months for the beginning of May 2012, but don't know how many points we are going to have to save. Hope we can book for then, we figure that's before school gets out, so hopefully we can get something.....after "Golden Week". (If the predictions are correct that this is going to be a hot seller for the Japanese!)

Anyone from Hawaii here? Is the first week of May as bad as I've heard?

Me! Me! I can't wait to see them. We are hoping to go probably in july or early aug 2012 for our anniversary trip that year. I too am hoping to see how the points chart are going to look and to see how much to save/borrow. I've never been so i can't help with what week is busy though.

Can't wait!! It'll be a 3rd Anniversary trip for us! I'm hoping we'll be able to get a studio ocean view (if such a thing exists!)....we're hoping the first year won't be too hard for 7 month ressies. I can't wait to see everything they will have to offer. I wish they'd have an Ohanas-type restaurant, that'd be great!

Sept,2013 for us! 30th Anniversary! Youngest son hopefully will be "tucked" safely away at college! Not "wishing" away the next 3 wonderful years, but something fun to look forward to!!!

I think it will be an AWESOME RESORT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't wait!:love::love:

Anyone think that Hawaii might not be part of the same system as other DVC hotels?

We just bout in and in the paperwork it specifically said that the contract we were entering did not guarantee the ability to use points in Hawaii.

That's a standard clause for any resort that has been announced, but not completed. When we purchased AKV it had the clause for VGC.

I'm waiting for the Hawaii point chart too. We're going to try getting a couple of nights either before or after our week in Kauai Jan 2012.

I'm on island, took pictures last weekend of the resort in progress. We look forward to trying to "get away" to Ko'Olina!

I will stick my neck out, but my prediction is that sales will start and point chrts will be out before July 1st.

I hope you are right, bookwormde, but July might be a little early, assuming you are talking about 2010 and not July 2011. I'm thinking the Aulani point charts will be announced around October 2010 for two reasons. First, October 2010 is about a year before Aulani's scheduled opening in the Fall 2011. Remember the BLT sales started in September 2008, about a year before its original projected opening date of September 2009. And second, DVD can have Aulani available for sales when the Holiday crowds start to visit WDW and DL in late 2010. Can't you imagine the attraction a Hawaiian resort will have to buyers from cold and snowy climates?

My guess is sales will start by September. The DVC Member Cruise is in September and they always have a big sales push on it. They have been previewing Hawaii for the last couple of years so I'm thinking they could do a lot of add ons during the cruise.

As others have said, it's standard.

Every time there is a new resort pending, the board spawns some debate over whether DVC would create unique rules or systems specifically for that resort. (Not because of the contract language but just because people seem to think the new locale has sufficient appeal to warrant a new system. :confused3 )

I just don't see the benefit. Right or wrong, DVC markets the program as providing owners unfettered access to a wide variety of resorts 7 months in advance of arrival. DVC isn't one resort, it's 11 resorts (once Aulani is added.)

If you put Aulani on its own...then it is on its own. Instead of selling Aulani plus 10 other destinations, DVC's market would solely be people who want to book Aulani year-after-year for the next 5 decades. That's a pretty small market.

You could argue that some would buy Aulani points if they were told that they couldn't use their SSR, AKV, OKW or other points to book there. But many more would certainly refuse to buy there if stripped of the ability to book the other 10 Disney timeshare destinations.

Disney isn't interested in creating little subsets within its timeshare program. They want to continue to grow the business by adding appealing destinations outside of the theme parks. If they are successful in selling Aulani, don't be surprised if locations like Washington DC and Lake Tahoe follow.

My prediction is based on a typical 8-10 month lead time from first occupancy which by the pictures we are getting and the rate of contruction progress could be spring of 2011.

I am in the contruction management buisness and I can tell you that with the slowdown and the availbiity of labor and materials that all projects an progressing much faster than in the past few years.

My BWV contract in 1999 had the same clause for VWL. It gives Disney an out if an announced resort is not completed. It did happen once. DVC announced Eagle Pines but then did not complete it.

I hope bookwormde is correct. I would love to see the point charts sometime this summer. It will definitely help us plan for next year's trip. Hopefully, they will be open as scheduled and we will be able to stay in October 2011 for our honeymoon. :lovestruc

I just looked up the OP's reference to "Golden Week". I didn't realize it was such a big vacation in Japan to travel the beginning of May. I have to agree that I believe that Disney will be marketing Aulani to Japanese to replace their Hawaiian vacations.

And we've been thinking maybe for May 2012 we could book Aulani. I wonder if the Golden Week time period will be a premier point season? I can see it now, March 1 through May 15 and all of December will be Premier seasons for Aulani. :rotfl:

We are also awaiting the points charts so we can plan how much we'll need to bank and/or borrow. I'm hoping to visit Hawaii for my next big birthday in 2013 - being able to use our points would just make it a perfect vacation. :goodvibes

Maybe we will see you in May 2012! Even after May 15th, you have a couple of weeks leeway before schools typically let out. We are lucky in that we won't be bringing kiddos, so we can pretty much go when they have openings. From what I've read up on Golden Week...a lot of businesses close down that week, and everybody goes on vacation at the same time! I want to spend at least one night at the Turtle Bay Resort too....every since I saw the movie Forgetting Sara Marshall, I've been wanting to stay there.

I was think about going the first week in May 2012 also.

But for now it is just wait and see.:rolleyes1
