Can't seem to wrap my head around Maxpass

Forgot that one. We had to scan the second time for Mansion last week too. At Buzz and Thunder the second scanners were covered and not in use all the times we rode last week. They never even routed the fastpass line at Thunder around the second set of scanners the three times we rode. The second set of scanners on Soarin' and RSR were also covered up last week during each of our rides. Toy Story because of all the construction isn't using any of the fastpass return scanners right now; CMs are scanning people in using handhelds. We didn't ride Goofy's, Grizzly, Matterhorn, or Splash (closed for refurbishment), and Roger we only did standby since it was 5 minutes when we went by. Star Tours and Guardians don't have a second set of scanners.

Same at GOTG, right before they send you to wait in front of one of the rooms where they show the video.

Interesting, I didn't know they did that on those rides. My family has been on each of those at least a dozen times since MaxPass started and not experienced that yet.

It is easy for people to hop the line from stand by to FP while walking up the queue - which is why I believe you need to do the second scan once you get to the top - otherwise many people would likely hop over the low little chain.

Frankly there are often enough distracting things for CMs going on near the ride entrances these days, that people can easily get into a fastpass line without scanning in, so I was a little disappointed that more of the second scanner sets weren't being used. There was a woman with 2 small children who walked right past the Thunder fastpass return machines the other day and no one noticed them. Her husband later joined her and I heard a chunk of the conversation about scanning in for fastpasses and so on and not leaving him behind if she didn't understand how it worked, so in their case they actually had the fastpasses I think; she just didn't understand that he had been the one scanning the family in at each stop. Some other fastpass line we were in at one point, some guys a little way ahead of us scanned in and got "blue" on the machine. They turned toward the CM who was busy with another family, looked at each other, and just headed into the line anyway, so their fastpasses may or may not have actually been valid. The Buzz fastpass line often had a CM who was busy explaining something to someone and in a location that would not have made keeping an eye on the scanners very easy, so it wouldn't have been difficult to simply step in line behind the scanners there either. These are just some examples from last week. Overall though, most people tend to be rule abiding, and generally I have been pleasantly surprised by how well Maxpass was implemented since I've thought of a lot of Disney IT as mostly garbage prior to the Maxpass release.

That second set of scanners at BTMR hasn't been used in months because of how they redesigned the line back in October to no longer have the FP line go past them. They'd have to move them for them to be put in use again.

We got blue when we had DAS return times.
