Im feeling really odd about our upcoming trip today.

We're going to WDW at the end of aug but I just can't seem to get excited about it right now. It feels like I have been waiting for so long that it's not really happening. I kinda feel like its not a real trip and it's still just me wishing for a a trip to happen.

Does anyone else ever feel like this?

Yes I do..:confused3

I get really exciting upto the booking of it then when thats done I plateau for a while. Every so often something triggers my excitment again. But it does go up and down until about 4 weeks to go then I go into excitement mode as the suitcases comes down from the loft and I start throwing stuff into them.

Have you got a Disney planning dvd that you can watch? That helps me...

I am sure you will get the butterflies again soon. Go onto the trip reports on this forum, thats normally a good way to get excited about your holiday again when you see all the photos.:)

I had this last year. I booked so many special extras yet a month before we left I was still feeling like planning was a chore and just not getting into it. I should know by now that no matter how you feel a day a week or a year before a trip, it's always awesome once you get there. You don't have to feel excited before you go to have a good time when you get there.

Last year I just stopped trying to 'get into it' and got on with everyday life. Next thing it was time to pack and then the excitement really kicked in.

We went in May and didnt really get excited until 2 weeks before, we are going again end of Aug, and between now and then theres alot going on so i know wont have alot of time to think about it, but i know 2 weeks before the excitement will kick in again (when i do my to do list and packing list).

I get like that sometimes, normally after we book. Then this year when planning ADR's I felt like it was becoming more of a chore than being exciting. We're nearing our DDD so the excitement is definately increasing :)

We have never been like that, as soon as we have known that we will be able to go, that is usually a year in advance, we talk about what we are going to do on the trip nearly every day, right up to departure day. For us just talking about it is nearly as exciting as being there. We always stay at the Softeil Hotel in Gatwick Airport the night before we fly and we love just being in the airport with the thought of a Disney Holiday ahead of us.:banana::banana:

I'm the same.

I'll get on high planning and booking. And then as it gets closer the doubts set in and I wonder if we'll have a good time and if it's really as good as I remember.

I promise you'll have a wonderful time and it'll be perfect!!

It's just because you've been waiting a long time. X

I think it's a reality check well it is in my case. It's all the excitement of pricing up;taking the plunge to book it ; telling everyone then it goes quiet till the ADR time comes then its booking odds and ends . We go end of August too and I feel like you. I hv a lot coming up starting a new job, my DD9 lost one of her friends suddenly 10 days ago and I can't seem to focus on anything thinking about his poor parents and the funeral on the 15th June .
Hopefully I will get more into it when I get over this. I feel like there is so much to do and plan yet it normally falls into place when we get there.
Although I do an Itinary somehow we never really stick to it 100%. The meals booked yes but the plans may change a bit.
Anyway your not on your own. Do yourself a little countdown from 50 days and cross the days off with the kids(sorry didn't look before writing if you have any). Today is day 81 for us as we leave for Manchester on the 21/8. Still seems a long time away but it will soon whip round.

We booked to go at the end of October and because I started feeling a bit down and couldn't wait that long I ended up booking another week (26 days till we go) and I still feel the same again (and skint) :rotfl2: can't even get into my diet mode and running out of time  as previous posters have said I thing it's the booking and planning which is the exciting bit but we know we will have a brill time when we get there!

I really do think i need to get the planning DVD out - its a 2008 one but they dont change that much do they? I've also got one of the DVD's that they sell at the parks - i just got the magic kingdom one as i didnt know if it would work when i got it home. I wish i'd bought the others now :lmao:

I love trip reports and read them loads. i decided the other day to try one of my own so i started a pretrippie to see how i get on

I think thats gonna be the best thing for me - i'm training to be a nurse and i have to go on placement on the 18th for 6 weeks. I live in Portsmouth but am training in Oxford so i have to stay at my parents house which means i will be coming home at the beginning of Aug. I'll be so busy and then when i get back i will have to sort out actually going away so hopefully it will hit me

I've even cleared out my wardrobe so i can make packing easier (it was full of so much junk!!) The DH took me shopping for holiday clothes today, i'm feeling much more in the holiday spirit:lmao:

I love that feeling, when its getting closer and the excitement builds. I quite enjoyed doing my ADR's this year. we got the free ddp so we dont really have any restrictions which is a really nice feeling. We're gonna try a few new places like the clam bake at Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club and are finally gonna go to Jiko at AKL. I can't wait

Its definately the same for us, we've had such a tough couple of years. DH is military, which has definately had an effect on how much time we get together and i've started my nursing degree. I feel like we really deserve some perfect time together with none of the home stuff to interfere. On the plus side, i have a new nursing placement coming up that i'm really looking forward to and it will keep me busy up until a couple of weeks before we go.

We booked the cruise part of our holiday in May 2010 so this holiday has seemed a long way off for months now.
I think with all the planning involved sometimes it can take the excitement away from the holiday. I always get excited when we head to our overnight hotel the night before we fly. Also I find holiday shopping gets me in the mood too :thumbsup2

Good luck with ur degree. I qualified last September and I know how hard it is financially. I had to work 16 hours in A&E as well for 2 years. Where is your placement? My new job is in the community. I did my sign off and elective there. Can't wait to start. Keep ur chin up:thumbsup2
