Can't miss minigolf in Cozumel???

I keep reading people's comments about what they are doing on the cruise and everyone keeps refering to the minigolf. What is the fascination? How can I find out if I feel my family should "not miss it" too?

Penel3, thanks for asking! If I didn't own the minigolf here in Cozumel, I would certainly be wondering the same thing.

Most people think of minigolf as it was in their youth, flat greens with windmills or big bears as obstacles you must somehow get past. The more modern courses are built with adults in mind, a more natural course that works with the beauty of the natural landscaping.

Here in Cozumel, beauty abounds! Winding around hundreds of banana trees, our 18 holes have numerous water hazards in the form of fountains, ponds and waterfalls. The course is challenging, and as difficult as it is, people always come back. Kids just love it, too!

The real uniqueness to our course is the fact that each group receives a walkie-talkie. As you play, should you develop a sudden thirst, simply call us and we will deliver ice cold beer or sangria ($2) or sodas or bottled water ($1) right to your hole!

We currently boast a collection of over 400 CD's. Players are invited to select the CD's they would like to hear while playing and we do our best to accommodate everyone.

The photos are out of date, the course is much more lush and tropical than the photos suggest. We plan to have new photos up within the next month.

The fact that so many are planning to visit us is a reflection of those who have already been here and have posted very favorable reviews... well, raves actually. Many thanks for those kind reviews, folks!

Sally - thanks for the link to your site. I had never seen it before. Cant wait to get there Nov 12th! You still have Jimmy for me I hope. How often does one find a bench among your mini-golf holes? Can we spend the day?

There are tables, chairs and benches throughout the course. You are welcome to spend the day! A slow 18 holes just means there's more time for beverages! And, of course, Jimmy's always available.

We HAVE been to Sally's Minigolf. It was neat seeing the banana trees BUT it was not what I had been led to believe. I personally think this has become somewhat of free advertising for her so I will give my unbiased review as someone who has been there...

1. Sally is VERY nice. Friendly and her dog is Cool.
2. The course is about one forth of the size I had assumed it would be.
3. The sangria is very tasty and the beer/soda priced very reasonable. The idea of the walkie talkies is neat if you want to drink a lot.
4. The banana trees are very cool, but, do be aware that it is in a horribly rundown neighborhood. I was afraid to get out of the taxi at first. Her site is up on a hillside which makes it better but really it seems like a getto area all around her. I have photos I took of down the street just to record it.. her place is nice like an oasis in the ghetto.
5. The best part of the golf is the atmosphere- people sit at plastic picnic tables and drink while others "play through" However it is in no way more challangeing than the courses here at home at cape cod.
6. Would I go there again? Maybe.. probably if I had nothing better to do while in Cozumel.
Sorry if this sounds a bit crass but I have been watching a pattern develop here that bothers me. It is a neat enough place but is really no different than say pirates cove-except for the fact that it has real lizards (we didn't see any that day except tiny ones but it was overcast) and neat vegitation. That and it is not in the best of areas...

Thanks for the pro's and con's of the site, Ann. I can't imagine anyone wanting to play mini golf when there is the Peninsula to explore!

Just to disagree here. The neighborhood was no better and no worse than a lot of neighborhoods, unless you live in a condo on the beach front (or on Cape Cod).

We walked from the ship to the golf course and back and did not fear for our safety, with the exeception of the pushy shopkeepers who kept trying to get us to some into thier shops where they could rip us off.

If you enjoy mini-golf and can't afford overpriced excursions or spending lots of money on jewelry, it's a nice alternative.

We visited the mini-golf on a trip (not DCL) to Cozumel. The ship we were on was staying until midnight. During the day we went to one of the beach clubs. After dinner, DH, DS(3), and I went to the mini golf. They even had a plastic putter for DS. I thought it was a very enjoyable way to spend the evening. Or it is an nice alternative for someone who isn't looking to go to the beach, snorkel, sail, explore etc.

Sally wasn't there when we went, but we met Scott and he is very nice.
