Can't Handle HHN. How's Universal Christmas?

I was talking to someone who is a huge Universal Studios fan while on a trip to WDW in September. I told her that I am quite certain that I would find Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios too intense. She told me that that I was "too sugary" for Halloween at Universal Studios. I said "Oh, you don't say?" because I wasn't 100% sure that she meant it the way that I took it, but I was 99.5% sure that I had just been insulted. So how about Christmas at Universal?

My husband would really like to see Harry Potter, but we felt that that should be a separate trip to cut down on the time spent running back and forth. Is Christmas at Universal Studios popular with Disney fans, or are Disney fans "too sugary" for that too?

How is too sugary an insult? I take it as you're too sweet. I think she was just agreeing with you that you wouldn't enjoy HHN (neither would I, if just the ads for it give an indication).

We haven't been either place yet, but we're doing Universal smack dab in the middle of a big WDW trip. I expect we'll enjoy both!

HHN is definitely intense but either you like that type of event or you don't...simple as that. I've done HHN for seven straight years so you can tell I like it. ;)

I don't know how Disney fans act towards Christmas at Universal but it's a nice time to come. Universal doesn't do as much as Disney but it's still very nice to experience. At the Studios, they have the Macy's parade with the huge balloons daily in the afternoons and on Saturday nights, there is a Christmas concert series that is included with your park admission. This year Mannheim Steamroller will perform three concerts on 12/4, 12/11 and 12/18. They are wonderful concerts. There is also going to be a new Christmas village but the information seems to be minimal right now.

At IOA...Port of Entry and Seuss Landing are decorated for the holidays. Grinchmas is in Seuss Landing and offers daily shows. It's a lot of fun for all ages. I don't know if anything will happen in WWoHP for Christmas this year but I haven't heard a lot so far.

I don't know.. Christmas at Universal can get pretty intense. There's a lot of holiday cheer and good feelings all around. Might not be your bag. ;)

The Grinch is pretty intense too. Better avoid him because he will destroy the sugar for sure!

Just kidding...you would probably enjoy Christmas at Universal, especially if you like the Macy's parade on TV or Dr. Seuss stuff. The Grinch really does get pretty sassy at the character breakfast (which I recommend), sort of llike the Disney villians.

I'd love to see Mannheim Steamroller! Do they come every year?

The Grinchmas shows are free at the Island of Adventure and they're all day. We were considering Mickey's Christmas Party at WDW but it's very expensive.

Can someone tell me more about Mannheim Steamroller? I didn't see that on the website.

Are you asking about the band or the concert? The concert is at the Studios and is included with your park admission. If you're asking about the band...here is their website:
