CAN'T DECIDE!!!! value/mod/deluxe

Just wanted to throw another thought out there, we have done split stay every trip...start at the value for 3 or so nights and do another 4 or 5 at a deluxe. WDW moves your stuff for you, it is great. We have also done 2 rooms at a value at 1/2 the rate for some deluxes...2 bathrooms cut our get ready time in half which got us to the parks PDQ, and we are a family of 4 and we each had our own bed if we wanted. For instance, once we had a code for the rate of $57 for a value, 64 w/tax Booked 2 rooms totalling 128 per night. Using the same code for AKL standard room was 157 p night. For the 29 difference per night, some may say to go for the delux, but we were watching every penney and it covered food for us one meal a day. We go commando tho, and are at the parks till they close. We love deluxe too, have stayed at CR and the Poly and the Dolphin, but only when we have the $$$ up front. Having to put it on credit would really take away from the enjoyment factor. Plus, to my kids, the Icee machines at POP are a deluxe item, they can't use the hot tubs, and while a daybed at a deluxe does allow my kids to not have to share a bed, having their own double in a 2nd room at a value was way better, there, now I gave you more options to add to the mix!:headache: ;)

Two things to consider:
1. If you are making payments on your reservation, then anytime a discount comes out you can change your package for better rates. One good discount that often comes up is the annual pass discount; for the cost of one annual pass you can get up to 40% off of rack rates.

2. The above poster was correct. Renting points is a great way to go. Points rent for approximately $11 - $13/pt. So for a weeks stay at AKL w/Savannah view in a two-bedroom villa @ $11/pt. during adventure season (DVC has different seasons - I am not sure when you are going and this is the cheapest)
270 pts. for a week x $11 = $2970
divided by two families = $1485 for each family
average cost per family = $212/ per night

A two-bedroom villa is essentially two full hotel rooms (one with a king bed and whirlpool bath and one with two queens) with a pull-out sofa and a sleeping chair in the living room. You will have a living room, a kitchen and a washer/dryer. They are perfect for trips like yours. You will also be able to get the Dining Plan if you like.

I have read many, many posts from happy renters. They say that the process is easy. Just make sure that the rooms are available for your dates before you make an agreement.

I hope that this helps,

Regina
