Can't decide CSR or Pop?

We are going for 12 nights in October and taking advantage of the FD offer. We had planned on staying at Pop (have only ever stayed at POR), as money is tighter this trip. Now with the FD offer it will $450 more to stay CSR. Any opinions as to whether or night this upgrade is worth the cost. I like the idea of queen beds, and CSR seems like it may be more quiet. On the other hand, Pop looks more appealing for our school age children, and we could use the money saved to attend MNSSHP or maybe add the water parks to our tickets. Does anyone have any advice for me? Any suggestions are appreciated :)

Love POP. We will be there December 3rd to 10th. Adults only!! Not in room long enough to pay more. I don't go to DISNEY to stay at the resort!!!

I agree with everyone else......POP! That way you can use the money you saved to do the "extras" in Disney without feeling guilty about it.

I would stay at Pop if:

I planned to spend most of my time at the parks
I was comfortable sleeping with 2 adults in a double bed
I planned to eat only quick service meals

I would stay at CSR if:

I planned to spend time at the resort, CSR has a cool main pool and smaller pools in each section.

I wanted bigger beds and a door to close off the bathroom/sink area rather than a curtain.

I planned to eat table service meals because it comes with the regular dining plan.

I was going between the 2 resorts as well, and this is the criteria I used. Since it's just my DH and myself, and we only have 3 full park days, we went with Pop.

I have stayed at both and like both resorts. I would go with Pop, it's super fun and the price tag is very appealing. Grounds are just as nice as CSR.

We love the CSR, it's an awesome resort. The grounds and pool area are great. The food selections in the food court are awesome too.

POP! I like saving money on accomodations in order to do more fun things (dining, etc).

I would definitely stay at CSR over POP. Especially for 12 nights.

It might seem like a little thing but if your bringing children when I stayed @ CSR they didn't have hot chocolate. I don't know if things had changed since then (2011)

I would stay at POP and save the money for MNSSHP. You can walk across ther bridge and check out AoA while you are these as well.

Another thought would be to do a split stay with half at each. I find 12 days too long at any one resort, personally. It feels like a new vacation when we move.

Totally agree! Better food esp. with plan. Pepper Market with food plan is awesome. Better grounds, more peaceful for 12 days. Sure the bigger icons is cute and all for a week, maybe, but 12 days. It's a lot sunnier over there, (it seems to me), less peaceful.

You'll want to relax a little in 12 days.

Agree with those who said short stay, POP, but for such a long stay, go with the moderate.

IMO CSR is worth the extra $37 a day (if I did the math right).

If you plan to ride the bus it has a better bus system IMO. We aren't fans of waiting in the sun/rain in the corrals. We have always ended up standing on the buses at POP.

We always ask to be in Casitas 4, it's closest to bus stop 2 (first on and off).

We don't swim while there but I hear they have a slide at the CSR pool that Pop does not.

I just switched my resort from AKL to POP to save $515. (4 night stay) I just can't see spending $100+ extra a night on a resort when the focus for this trip is on the parks.

POP is a good hotel. It's no AKL but its fun. But $515 buys a lot of fun in the parks! :goodvibes

Now, all that said, if I were in your shoes and staying 12 nights I would stay moderate. BUT I wouldn't pick CS. I stayed there once and didn't like the convention feel. I would stay at POR or POFQ. They have the boat to DTD which is great.

The good thing is you will have fun either way.

Tough call as I have stayed at both. However, I would stay at POP. Way more appealing to the children. My kids went there for their first visit at ages 5 & 7. My children were extremely comfortable at POP and felt right at home for a 7 night stay. Bringing two small children with just my mom, I was VERY apprehensive staying there as I had always done Deluxe or Mods.:scared1: Yes, I am spoiled:laughing:

Too much walking at CSR for kids or anyone for that matter after a long day at the parks! :rotfl:

But either choice you will love!

I would go moderate for longer stay too plus you can do some character meals on regular dining plan I always find these great instead of standing in line fir autographs and photos. In those 12 days you will probably want to spend some time at your resort so it is pretty important. Better still do a split stay, half the savings will go a long way to NSSHP and do the character meals while you do the moderate WIN WIN.
Really wish I had known about split stays before I came on these boards. We have 10 nights at YC and wish 5 of these were at Poly or AKL but its too much hassle for me to change now .

My kids loved the main pool at CSR with the slide. They also have an arcade at the pool. Also, they loved the quiet pools.
Stick with what someone said about requesting the Casistas for bus purposes.
The walking is not that bad at all. Esp. if in Casiitas you can go one way for the food, and one way for the main pool. There will be a quiet pool too there.
Ranchos Is a bit farther, but try to just request Casistas and/or cabana.
True what someone said that there are better mods' (though many may disagree), but I'm assuiming since you didn't list that as an option, these are your two options.
One thing no one mentioned is that AoA does connect to POP so that may give you someplace to go else for their food court. There is no pool hopping, so that would be out.
IMO 12 days of big Playdough Cans and Groovy Sayings, would get old.-- But the beauty of CSR would last and relax you.
Your counter service food options at Pepper Market some may say a cut above.

Pop 100%! We stayed at CSR last year and really wished we were at Pop. Actually tried to transfer to Pop and there wasn't any room to be had :( We love Pop...not a fan of CSR at all..

Having no Disney experience at all, we initially booked Pop for FD in October. It was all that coming up on-line last Thursday morning at 1am so I took it. I thought about upgrading the DP at POP, but for 150.00 more we could get a preferred room in the casitas section CSR with the regular DP. I hope we made the right decision;it seems everyone loves POP. We just returned from a trip to Mexico and the resort we stayed in had double beds. I love my wife and all, but two adults sleeping in a double bed is not comfortable to me at all. Queen beds is what sold me.

I'd either do a split stay or go with CSR. It's your vacation as well as your kid's vacation.
Pop has double beds while CSR has queen size. If your kids are sharing a bed, that extra space will be helpful.
With FD, you can eat at The Pepper Market which has a fantastic variety of food at the food court-even delicious steak.
The Dig Site pool has a fun slide for your kids.
There are also privacy doors between the dressing room area and the bedroom area.
