I REALLY REALLY want to stay at the Poly....its a dream of mine. Hubby and I have an anniversary trip planned 9/7-9/10. We did have Poly booked at $1255.36 with the free dining. I ended up switching to CSR and saving $570. Total for a king room was $688. Well now, I can get the Poly for $249 a night, total with tax was like $838 or something. But I lose the free dining. Well since we have 11 days of free dining 11 days after we return, thats not a huge deal, we will just eat CS meals all weekend. But the resort... thats my dream! So it will cost me an extra $150 over what I have already paid in full, but I am okay with that. I know its actually more since we have to pay for food and I am not getting tickets (we had just 1 day base tickets anyway, this way I am upgrading to an AP which I will use for our trip later in Sept anyway and then again in Dec). Is it going to be worth it? If I dont go with Poly then I do have CSR booked (and paid for) with the free dining.

Hi. I dont know much about the rates, dining plans etc......BUT if it were me I would HAVE to go with my "dream" resort! Who cares about food......LOL
You can pack snacks and eat CS like you said!!! Stay at the place you REALLY WANT TO STAY AT!!!
If I could afford it I would!!!!
PS Happy Anniversary!!!!:wizard:

Go for the Poly. DBF and I are in the middle of planning a trip for the end of September and I've wanted to stay at the Poly since I was 8. Needless to say it wasn't going to happen because he put a limit and it was just slightly over. Now with the AP rate we can do it! I'm so excited! So yes if the Poly is your DREAM, go for it. You may be spending a little more but it's going to be worth it.

I agree with everybody else. Go with the Poly. Since it is your "dream resort" it will make vacation happier! :)

Hi again. Since you are putting the "buzz" in my ear about DREAM resorts (thanks...lol) can anyone point me in the right direction to get "affordable rates? I just upgraded our seasonal passes to ANNUAL passes. Other than the free parking and 10% off at Downtown Disney I dont really know the other perks.
I have stayed at the Value Resorts and one time lucked out and got FQ, but other than that resorts like Boardwalk, Contemp, Poly.....are just too far out of reach.....Any suggestions?
Thanks:cool1:

I vote for the Polynesian! Especially if it is for your anniversary, because the Poly is very romantic at night. Picture gorgeous grounds, lighted torches, tropical music playing, maybe catch Wishes from the beach, Cinderella's castle off in the distance...need I say more?! Go for it and enjoy!!!

I'd go with Poly. I wouldn't think 3 days of free dining is that substantial when you weigh in your AP savings, and your particular situation of having 11 days of free dining shortly after the weekend trip in question. So if I've understood your post correctly, then I'd definitely book Poly for those 3 nights with the AP rate. Then enjoy your 11 days of free dining for your next trip.

i would go with poly using the ap discount-i would feel i was getting my monies worth out of the ap using the discount at a deluxe resort.....and if you have the dde card ohanas isnt too expensive

Can someone please tell me where to read up on the "ap discount"
thanks

Thanks! This is a once in a lifetime trip! I know hubby wont go back to Disney for our "weekend aways" again. And when we do it as a family, there is 6 so we would need 2 rooms at Poly... AINT GONNA HAPPEN! Plus, I am thinking of buying into DVC. So this might be my last chance at Poly! Its too many pts to convert from DVC to Poly! I am going to call tomorrow and switch to Poly! I might even add an extra night! So we would have 4 nights! And I have done budget eating before, I can do it again :) Thanks for the input. I think the deciding factor was that this WAS/IS my dream resort and I do have free dining for 11 days right after this trip!

I can get the Poly for $249 a night

$249 a night at the Polynesian is really a great rate. To give you an idea how good, in November 2001 the value rate with discount for a garden view room there was $185. Those were the days when Lagoon View Concierge was $330 with tax (*sigh*...) Considering price increases, that would be a very good deal.

I know, $80 per night! AHHHHH! It is too good to pass by. The chance to stay at our dream resort?? HECK YA!

Hi,you may want to call now for your switch. I called yesterday and the CM said they were limited on the rooms still available with the AP rate. one year we actually missed out on the rate by waiting just three days after it came out.
