Can't book GCH for January 7, 2008 - unusual???

I have called Disney Resort reservations number to book a 7 night package for January 2008 staying at Grand Californian Hotel. The agent tells me I cannot book now and probably not until probably October. This seems a little strange that they are not taking any bookings for the hotel until 3 months out.

Can anyone confirm if this is normal?

You should be able to at least book a room only reservation. I don't think you can do packages yet, because 2008 prices haven't been released. They are suppose to be released next month sometime, so I don't know why the agent said October?

They have not released 2008 rates yet. I cannot even book the DLH for January using DVC points. My DVC rep told me no rooms, packages or room only, using cash or points are available yet for all of 2008. She said it should open up around the end of August, as that is what happened in previous years. Very frustrating the way they do this. Once they do open up, you should be able to book well into 2008. Last year I booked the DLH in September for the following June so I was surprised I could that nine months out but couldn't do this next trip six months out. Again, really frustrating, I like to have my plans made!
