yesterday when Scotland took the great big step to change the culture of today and future generations.

Of course it was the day that No Smoking in public places came into effect.
It is not just affecting pubs, clubs and restaurant but anyplace that is enclose.

HGV drivers heading north will have to stop smoking in their cabs as this is considered a work place and therefore is part of the ban .

:woohoo: :woohoo: Lunch with a colleague today was fantastic

I can't even remember hearing anything on the news yesterday - or perhaps I wasn't paying attention. ;)

Anyhow, it's great news, well I can say that seeing as I don't smoke! :)

Actually it was Sunday 6am that it came into effect. Here was me thinking that today was Monday

Fantastic news - I'm another one who can't wait for it to happen in pubs and restaurants in England :)
Having been to Ireland quite often it's a joy to sit and have a meal or drink with nice fresh air :)

:cool1: I cannot agree more :cool1:
:cheer2: it is the best thing that has happen here :cheer2:

so many people have gave up smoking or do not smoke :smokin: half as much here now

***Get really for other smells :lmao: smoke covers up so much :lmao: ***

I'm somewhat confused about how the ban on drivers smoking in the cabs of their lorries will be enforced?

What happens if you are driving over the border from England and then driving back? Are there going to be smoking police at the border with big hosepipes ;)

Also what about foriegn lorry drivers? - Most of them wont have a clue that they are not allowed to smoke in their cabs :confused3

I think it's a good thing and I can't wait for it to happen here, I am just confused about how some of the legislation can be enforced :)

Local authorities have enforcement officers who the Scottish Executive say will take an encouraging and educating stance initially. So I suppose they could target the drivers at rest stops and motorway service stations.

There is a cartoon in someones mind about a smoke radar gun :rotfl2:

Encouraging and Educating? Like saying you see this bit on the packet where it says smoking kills in great big bold letters??????

The council I work for does not allow anyone to smoke in their vehicles. I guess they can tell when they take it back if it smells or not!!!
