Can't believe I saw this...

One thing dh & I will 'not' do is use public hot tubs 'anywhere'! They are just the temperature to be filthy with germs. Seldom even use public pools, as chemicals do not kill all bacteria/germs.

DVCcurious, sorry, but not 'everybody' pees in pools - that is just sooo gross!
Ditto on not using hot tubs! When we were at the SAB pool a couple of years ago they had to close it for awhile because of a BM in the pool. I have not used that pool since.

Thinking about what I might do ...... maybe announcing loudly to the folks behind me "Be careful where you step, the lady in front of us just peed on the floor." :D

I like this one! Putting the blame on the mother and not the kid, good one!!

Absolutely! It's the mother at fault, not the child. I would never embarrass a child for that type of situation, he did as Mom told him, but I would totally embarrass the mother.

I have an adult son who is very disabled on most scales. Often out, particularly at Disney World we have had people say or do things rude towards him. Rather than say anything to them I look at my son or other children and in a very loud voice say something so that they hear me, know I am talking about them and reassure my kids that their behavior is rude and inappropriate .... and they can't help themselves because they are ignorant. Then we forget about it and go on with our day with a smile.

Everyone pees in the pool but no one wants to admit it, kinda like picking your nose or indulging in self gratification. It's really not that big a deal. There's chemicals they put in the water to kill the germs.

My kids think it's gross to pee in the pool. Judging by the number of times I have to take them to the bathroom while we're swimming, I'm pretty sure they're not peeing in the pool.

With all you pool-peeing deniers chiming in I had to do a little googling about this. According to the Internet it's not everyone. Instead it's about 25% of adults admit to peeing in the pool.

I found the article below, which says 1-in-5, not too far from your 25% figure. The article also has lots of other things to say about peeing in the pool that I think are worth reading...

I'll admit I used to love using hot tubs at hotels as they are relaxing, however, after my grandpa passed of sepsis/MRSA, I have refrained from using public hot tubs as my grandpa contracted sepsis/MRSA from a tub I think at his nursing home. Mom and a friend warned me about the risk of MRSA in hot tubs, so I no longer use them. I still use pools though, as I love swimming and from research, the risk of getting MRSA is lower.

My kid made me take him to the bathroom to pee while swimming.

We were swimming in a lake.

I am pretty much positive he does not pee in pools.

We went to AoA today just to walk around and when we returned to the car the kid from the car next to us was peeing on our tire.
My kid once peed in a mcdonald playplace I knew she had to go but she refused to stop playing then she came out and told me she needed new pants. Luckily there was no one esle up there I went up with a bunch of napkins baby wipes and antibacterial gel and cleaned it up while dh changed dd.

LOL...I have a friend who insists she never farts either and gets seriously offended (not joking) if people don't believe her. I think it's adorable that she sticks to that story. So, to those who insist they don't pee in the pool, that's fine...just understand that a WHOLE lot of others do. :rotfl2:

Not farting is biologically impossible. Peeing in a pool (or other public places) is not a biological necessity. There's a huge difference between the two actions. (If your friend is holding them all the time, then she's probably just farting while she's asleep. And she's probably pretty uncomfortable most of the time - don't punch her in the gut.)

I can honestly say that as far as I can remember, I have never peed in a pool, shower, or anywhere else aside from a toilet. I'm sure I must have as a young child, but I have no recollection of it. I have a hard enough time going in a public restroom - I don't know why I'd want to go in a pool that I'm swimming in. (I once spent all day at a cabin with no bathroom or outhouse. I tried peeing in the woods and couldn't. I was incredibly uncomfortable that day!)

My grandfather also passed away from MRSA that he contracted in a nursing home/rehab. I'm sorry for your loss. :(

Thank you sdsatl! I am sorry for your loss as well :( . He passed away a year ago on 12/4/2014 and he was three weeks shy of his 98th birthday! :eek:I also can't believe our grandfathers passed away from similar causes, but unfortunately, the many people at the nursing home makes it easy to contract MRSA. While they did manage to kill the MRSA in his system, he had an aortic valve, which was a prosthetic part, which allowed the MRSA to stay in his system and flow through the blood. God bless you and all the best!

My hat goes off to the cast members for all of the things they have to endure. I think what a lot of us Disney-a-holics forget is that there are millions of people of visit the parks, and they come in all different behavior types. Not everyone has the appreciation for the parks or the cast members that the rest of us have.

It's unbelievable to me sometimes, the things parents instruct their kids to do. Like...how would you like it if someone made YOU do that? Children don't deserve less respect/dignity/privacy than adults just because they're smaller. That mom should have put herself in her child's shoes for a second. Ugh. Terrible.

When we were there over Thanksgiving, my girls and I spotted a mother with the pants of her little boy pulled down and instructing him to pee in a bottle. Right there in front of everyone! This was right there where the extra "castle" walls are. Just a few feet away was a bathroom. It was hilarious and gross at the same time. I have three kids and never never ever have I instructed them to urinate in public. Maybe out in the woods away from people but not in that kind of environment. Common sense folks, common sense.

I can't even imagine what the rationale for this would be?!?!?! I can't deal with the general public sometimes.

The world is getting sicker everyday. I think there is more disgusting/horrible stories lately then I have ever seen. Tonight I read of a father in Orlando who made his daughter eat her own vomit after she ate too much at dinner and happened to vomit. Such sick and evil individuals out there. So sad!
