MAGICAL...and let's try and keep this at the top of the first page.

Do tell...what are the most magical things about staying on Walt Disney World property?

Our upcoming trip will be DH and my first time staying on the famous soil that Walt walked on. To me that is pretty magical.

:wizard:

I'll join in since I just got back from my first stay onsite (CBR).

I would say that some of the most magical things about staying onsite are, disney transportation, the wonderful CM's, how close you are to the parks and being able to get to them within 15 minutes or so, and the Disney feel you get when staying onsite. Even though I wasn't at the parks 24-7, I still felt like I was on a Disney Vacation while at CBR.

I think theres a different atmosphere on property. Yes, Disney World is always busy, but it's actually a "fun" busy if that makes sense. I'm one of those bubbly happy all the time people, and I tend to notice more smiles while on vacation on property at Disney World than I do when I'm on vacation elsewhere. Give me a 5 star hotel in the DR and people don't seem nearly as happy as they do in the All Stars at WDW! That really adds to the atomsphere.

Plus, how often do you find an actual "themed" resort? Not often! Sure when you go some place tropical it will be tropical, but not really "themed" to the extent that Disney goes. You can find a nice, classy hotel anywhere, but to find the theming that Disney provides elsewhere is next to impossible! That to me is worth it and why my husband and I are spending our honeymoon there!

Plus, a lot of people have some really good memories there! I mean my husband's first real vacation was with me at WDW right after HS graduation and to us that was a really special trip. Every time we go back we get a sense of nostalgia even though its only been 5 years since then! But it just adds to it.

Lastly, when on property its so much easier to go resort hopping! By that I mean you can simply go to the other themed resorts and walk the grounds and look at the resorts! I simply love going to the CB to walk around if were not staying there. At night that place is truly magical! :)

i love the feel of the food courts at the values, call me weird but it so disney to me. I like the neon lights and all!! I do love the buses as well.

Sounds good to me!!! :)

I am so excited to stay at the Poly again! It's been two years which is way too long. :) I can't wait for the torch lighting, the friendly ALOHA's as we walk around, the Volcano pool, the Hawaiian music, watching the EWP from the beach. Ahhhhhhhhh :cloud9:

I think one of the most magical things about staying on Walt Disney World Property is all the neat people I meet using Disney Transportation. I had so much fun talking with people on the way to and from the parks. :)

Thanks guys! :grouphug:

I'm so excited for our "first time" on property. It's going to be when all the holiday decorations are up. I don't know if I can think of anything more magical than Disney at Christmas.

TigrLvsPooh,

Now your making me want to swith over to Poly from Contemporary form my Memorial Day weekend stay :)

Sorry! I've just got a serious case of Poly FEVER right now!!! :cool1:

TigrLvsPooh,

On one of the days last week when it was raining, it took a whorl around the monorail resorts and thought to myself how cool would this be only a 5 minute walk to MK. When we stoped at Polynesian, I almost died at how nice the resort looked.

Onsite beats offsite always
Just seem to me that when you check in onsite you kind of forget everything else in the world
you really dont need to go offsite so you are kind of sheltered from outside
also you can't beat the service you get I know ,I know there are some surly and generally gruff cms around but on the whole cm at disney seem to really subscribe to the whole guest thing

Can't hardly wait for our next trip
trying the bc for first time whooo hooo

Oh man, I thought we really had something going there for a minute... then I refreshed my screen to check this thread and it's already buried under FOUR new ap threads in the last like one minute.

mikesluss,

I know what you mean. Since this was my first onsite stay, while I was walking around the resort, I was like a little kid on Chrismas Day. There is just something about staying onsite that you don't feel when staying off site.

I remember the first time I saw the GF. It was 1988 I think and it was still under construction. I can picture it in my head perfectly as the monorail came across and into the Contemporary. I was only 15 at the time and I remember saying to myself... "Self, we are definitely staying THERE one day". :teeth: And sure enough, we did!!! :goodvibes

I agree that the bus drivers are great! One night we were on our way to MK and I had gotten the time of the fireworks wrong and they went off during our bus ride from Port Orleans (then) to MK. The bus driver and DH and I were the only ones on the bus at the time. It was great! He said that he loved this part of his job to watch the fireworks every night. We watched together and talked a little about how it's the unexpected things that really stand out it your mind. I have seen the fireworks many, many times but only a handfull stand out clearly in my mind and this is one of them.

I remember seeing the contemporary on an old show and thinking how cool it would be to ride the monorail through a building took a number of years but then I took our family and stayed here for our ds who wanted to stay "where the train goes"
Also love the ewp I walked down to the dock everynight to see was very cool

mikesluss,

When I was there to eat at Chef Mickey's I thought it was a cool resort and said someday I will stay there, but never thought that some day would be in 10 weeks.

let's keep this at the top.
how's this for magic?
i am the cheapest sob i know. took a chance one day staying at the ASMo for the first real trip with our son. needless to say, i haven't even thought about staying off site. every other place we go for anything, i wouldn't pay more than $100/night, even for business travel. but staying on site is worth it!
even my kids behave pretty well whenever we go there. (sort of)
just got to scrape together the $$ for DVC, and i'll be set.
