I have had to replace some stuff in my house so now my disney fund is short and christmas coming I don't have the extra cash to take my family to Disney World. I have a condo in Kissimee and a cruise that I bought to use, but not enough money to take the family to Florida, I have enough for plane tickets but no extra for spending money. I need about $3000 cash, where can I get it? Please list your tricks on coming up with some extra cash.

do you have any old jewelry sitting around in a jewelry box that you never where? I took mine to a local jeweler to get a comparison price, then I contacted U.S.Gold Buyers. It's simple to send in, they call you the next day with the monetary offer. You can say yes or no and they will return your items to you if you are not happy with the offer. I sent my things earlier this year and local jeweler offered $190 and USGB offered $425!!! You can also sell anything laying around the house on Craigslist or Ebay. If the weather is okay you can have a great big yard sale. Advertise, advertise, advertise!!! Maybe pick up a part time job with the pay going directly to disney trip?

Would driving down be an option instead of flying? Also about spending $$$ alot of people buy their souveniers offsite like at the Disney outlets to save that way. Just some thoughts that came to mind. If I think of anymore I'll post later. Hope it all works out for ya!

It is to far and with 3 little kids, It would take 4 days and more money than a plane ticket.

That is a lot of money to come up with in a short period of time. If you could sell some things as others said and worked to make some add'l money. Could you cut some corners somewhere, possibly get by with less money on the trip eat in, take a shorter trip. Can you cut some corners at home make some calls to see if you can lower your insurance or your cable bill. Is it possible to cancel the trip and take it at a later time when you can work on saving up for it. Linda :)

Okay I have picked up a couple of easy jobs.
Check on the neighbors house while they are not here $50/month and plow snow on their driveway $100 per plow.

Disney fund:

$50/month=$250 by february

$100/plow, should plow 6 times= $600

total $850.

I need another$2150. Wife is to emberassed to have a garage sale in this neighborhood and kids won't sell anything. Keep the ideas coming.

We like to go south in the winter, it is to nice in the summer months to go anywhere.

Don't go if you don't have the money to go. Disney will always be there and no one will kick the bucket if you skip a year. You have already been lots of times.

Cutting household costs.
I could reduce the number of channels on my satelite tv may save $20/month.
Could cancell my sirius satelite radio.
Thats about it, everything else is as low as it can get.

Would your wife be able to pick up some work? If she's not working maybe she can pick up some work in a store during the busy shopping season. Do you have any credit card miles that you could use towards your flight? Have you looked into flying in or out of a different airport to possibly get a better fare? Linda :)

I understand about the garage sale, but I wouldn't let the kids get away with "we don't want to sell anything" if you'd rather go the ebay route. This is their trip too and selling off some toys that they dont play with anymore, gently used clothing, etc. is a great way for THEM to contribute to their own trip.

If it were me, I'd tell the kids (assuming they're old enough) to each pick five things to sell, just to get started. Give them the control, they know best what they'll miss and what they haven't touched in six months.

That asside, do you have any grown-up "toys" that you could sell to raise cash? Gadgets and gizmos that you got as gifts and don't really want/like? If you wear designer clothes and have some in good shape that you don't need, you could sell those through a consignment shop perhaps. Take a good look around the house, you'd be amazed at what you have laying around that sell, and it's sometimes funny the things that fetch the highest prices.

Cut back 50% on Christmas and let the kids know that the trip is part of this year's Christmas gift.

Clip at least $20.00 worth of coupons for groceries, health and beauty products per week.

Do an eat out of the freezer and pantry for a month and bank the grocery money toward the trip.

By the way that must be some large driveway to cost $100 per time to plow it--I live near Buffalo right off the lake and we don't pay that kind of $$ for snow removal!:scared1:

If you have a condo here, why don't you try to rent it out for a few weeks. Especially if you're not going to be here for Thanksgiving. You could easily rack in 700-1000 for 5-7 nights that week. (Depending on how big the place is).

not sure how a long drive could cost more than 4 airline tix......if things are that tight...is this wise?

wishing you luck.
I think that if you are not able to afford it, why Struggle for a disney/any trip? :confused3

WHy not wait to go when the cash is there so you have no "extra" stress about it. I am also assuming that in this economy, you already have your back up $$, "OMG/unforseen" expenses in order too.
Well, again, good luck to you if you're gonna try and go, OP some pixie dust your way....keep us posted with your status on your trip!! :wizard:
Try Craigslist for your "trash" someone elses treasure......

How about taking the train? very economical.

OP, is this the same vacation that you mentioned back in March?

Or did you actually buy into the timeshare? I'm just wondering because you made a similar post to this one back in August ( http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2260189 ) and you mentioned that you "have a condo" back then as well.

Anyway, you might want to re-check the moneysaving suggestions in those threads for some ideas on how to add to your vacation fund.

If it is the same time share presentation thingy, I would avoid it and chalk it up to a small bad investment. If you really do believe it will all be great you have an option to extend the deadline for 6 months with a nominal fee--if the nominal fee is a lot, then you already know what direction this "bargain" is going to take you in. Good luck. I'd skip my vacation for the year and save for a better vacation when I could afford it.
