I thought I would write about my experience just now with trying to add a day to our reservation for others who find themselves in the same situation.
First off we got really great ticket prices using points and cash for Southwest if we left a day earlier. So instead of arriving on August 19th we get in the 18th. Wonderful! I call the hotel directly to let them know I want to add on a day at our SMSM rate. Apparently even though there is a club room available on the 18th it would be $100 more a night than what we are paying now. Um...no, that won't work.....I ask if I can just cancel the whole thing and rebook for 6 days instead of 5 but she says it's not recommended as the room we want will not show up in their system immediately. She gives me the option of a garden view room at the same rate we are staying for Club  I ask if we can tie the two reservations together and she said no but she did let me know when we check in that the hotel will be able to see both reservations. What I am really hoping is that when we get to the hotel they will take pity on us and start us out in our room on club level lol....so we don't have to move...only time will tell and I will be sure and come back and give my experience when we return. Anyone else have a similar experience???

The price increase is due to a weekend - your prior reservation was over weekdays. If it is available and you try and book online for the 6 nights what rate do you get? I think the $100 extra is due to a one night booking and not getting the smsm rate.

Did you call the hotel directly? I would call back and get someone else. Sometimes it gets frustrating with the regular reservations people! :headache:

The club room is not available to book on our original dates....I guess it's sold out. It IS available on the 18th. I called the number you gave me in a different thread...Thank you btw....and the 1-800 number. Both times I believe I was transfered over to Universal Reservations when I told them what I wanted. Good news is she checked my 19-24 ressie and it is still noted about wanting "the couch room" on Club lol

LOL - the couch room! :thumbsup2

OK - I didn't realize the Club room wasn't available. You did the best you can and hopefully at check-in that may change. I would check back every couple days too! With the 5 day cancel it could open before you leave. :goodvibes

I'm almost embarassed to say I check on a daily basis ;) Last time our rate lowered about 10 days out :cool1:

I do the same too.

A similar thing happened to us when we went a few times ago. Eventually a room came up and I was able to rebook the entire thing at the same price. It can be a real pain in the butt.

This is the same situation I find myself in. Getting charged regular rate because we have a different room for the one added night and checking daily to see if Club level opens up so I can change the ressie.

i feel your pain.
had the same issue a few weeks ago.

i added another day.
starting one day earlier than what i booked last december for this october stay.

i ended up booking the first night with the aph rate instead of the smsm that i am using for the rest of the trip.
of course i had to pay that first night in full.......

i contacted the hotel and they have now tied my 2 reservations together.

Wonder why they told me that they can't do that? Oh well, at least she said they will be show up when we check in.

i contacted the hotel directly to have mine tied together.
i did not want to have to relocate rooms after the first night.

I had to book a different room type that first night or pay $100 more for a club room. Maybe that's why?

if you have to check out of the first room to move to club on you second ressie, you would have two different reservations.

i would try to call the hotel directly when you are 2 weeks and counting down, out from your arrival.

keep checking the website to see if there are available club rooms.
when you see availability, call immediately so you can switch and then tie the two ressies together.

that is my suggestion as if i was in your situation, that is how i would handle it.
i have two ressies but with different rates and codes for it.

I check every day, several times a day. I'm obsessed! But I am also considering club level at HRH if I can't get what I want at RPR.
RPR is my first choice mainly for price and theming.

One thing to note is that when you check online, the price posted is the lowest for your entire stay. In other words, if you book Thursday-Sunday, the price will reflect whatever you are paying for Thursday and/or Sunday, but not for Friday and Saturday. You have to click the "rate details" tab to get the full breakdown, where you will see that your rate is higher for weekends and your average nightly rate is higher than what is initially posted on the website. Since you are trying to add a Saturday to your stay, this is likely the reason for some if not all of the $100 price difference and it is not likely to change much if at all.

HMMMM...I guess my other question is...now that I'm thinking about it... since we have to move from Garden to club and our room will most likely not be ready when we check out of the Garden, will bell services hold our things? We will be arriving around 4 Saturday so won't really need to unpack for that one night Garden view....

We change hotels sometimes split the stay - when we have done this we go to the front desk in the AM and make them aware that we are checking out of one and into another - they have always accommodated us. Never had to be w/o a room. See if they can arrange for you to not be w/o a room also. :thumbsup2

When we've done that in the past, someone has actually moved our bags. On one visit to Portofino, we got upgraded but it was only available after our first day. They had us just leave our bags in our first room and they moved them to our second room while we were at the park.

This, and they called us while we were in the park to let us know the new room was ready.
