If you could only take 2 lenses with you, which two would you take.. Out of this list. I have a 5D Mark II and 40D

Canon 85mm 1.8
Canon 17-40mm 4.0 (my only Lseries lens)
Canon 50mm 1.8
Canon 28-135 3.5-5.6
Canon 75-300 4-5.6
Tamron 70-200 2.8

Probably the 50mm 1.8 for dark rides/other low light situations and the 28-135 for the most versatility elsewhere.

I think your 5D compensates for a lot of the low light sensitivity with the good ISO, so I'd take your two "best" lenses:

Canon 17-40mm 4.0 (my only Lseries lens)
Tamron 70-200 2.8

Personally
I'd go with the 28-135 and 75-300 and leave the 28-135 on most of the time. Covers the whole range you'd likely need.

As others have pointed out, the 1.8 lenses might not be needed as your camera body has some pretty good low light features already.

Of the lenses you have, I would take the 17-40 and the 70-200 if I could only take 2.

If I had to choose... 28-135 and the 50mm. The higher ISO settings don't make up for a fast lens as much as you think they would when you factor in the increased noise.

I would take the 17-40 and Tamron 70-200, and 50mm (because it's small !)

If you don't take the 75-300, you may end up wishing you had the extra focal length mainly at AK and shows.;)

I agree with these 2 lenses also. I used the 28-135 as my walkaround lens during my last Disney trip, and really missed having room on the wide end. The 50mm 1.8 didn't yield nearly as good results as I had hoped on dark rides, although it's so small & light it shouldn't be too hard to find room to bring it along also.

I'll be an odd one and recommend the 17-40 only. IMO the 50mm is a bit long to get good low light shots on rides and the 28-135 misses all the fun wide angle opportunities at WDW. The 70-200 is a good lens to bring if you don't mind a large lens at Disney...

Personally I've never been into telephoto photography, especially at WDW and I find my pictures are often more interesting at shorter focal lengths. Now, if you want pictures of the animals or pictures of stage shows this may not be true.

In the end its up to you, but personally I'd want to travel light. Ideally I would say a 15-85 IS or 17-55mm IS, or even 18-55 or 17-85mm would be an ideal walk around and then a 30mm F1.4 as a low light lens. But I guess I'll stick with just the 17-40 which should be long enough for the majority of your shots...depending on what you like to shoot.

First, decide the purpose of the trip! How much time do you have to take photographs? Will your time be limited by looking after small children?

Consider purchasing a high quality P/S camera to complement dSLR when you do not have time or have the effort to carry around lots of photogrphy equipment.

When you *do* go to the park with plenty of time and intention to get good photographs, be sure to bring all your dSLR equipment.

The purpose of the trip is family vacation. I have a p&s for quick photos but I hate hate hate the way they come out. I have always taken my dslr and shoved the p&s in the pocket. I really want to get some great shots of the scenery and surroundings and of family. I want to take some good shots of the night lights, the fireworks and the parades. :thumbsup2
