I finally got my camera!! For those of you who may remember me posting so many questions about 4 mos ago... It is soooo cool! I have lots of shots to share from the last couple weeks as well as the pics I took w/ the EOS my Dad gave me-

short & sweet...
I can't find a regular retail store that sells the CBK4-300 (charger kit)
OR the individual CB-5AH/CB-5AHE battery charger and the NB-3AH rechargeable batteries-

I am a big scaredy when it comes to shopping online- Not just for security reasons but also - I want NEW- NBU/NBO product- Not refurbished, Not opened but sat in drawer all Winter, etc etc-
Electronics are hinky when buying used from someone- Anyway, unless someone can tell me what local type retail shop should have these items- Please tell me of a "safe" to you site is that I can order and receive before July 5th? (Being today is the 24th of June, isn't that enough time?)

I can't believe BEST BUY is not selling Canon accessories for one of the newer cameras but has all types of charger packs, cards, etc for much older cameras... Just maddening-
I have checked several shops locally w/ no luck- I am thinking someone may have a good source- Thx so much!

PS- As soon as all software is loaded on computer for Canon SX10is, I will get pics shown- (one raeson I have not been around boards for so long is because we have been out of cable in our area a few months.. construction of new houses and, yep- ate into our lines...) took forever, we tried to chaneg to satellite and after they said they could also service internet in our area, had it all hooked up w/ a dish in the FRONT yard and a few ne w holes in my walls- they tell us 2 weeks later, "NO, we can't do internet in your area. You live too far North of the "line"..." - I am like HUH??...
So, anyways, hey again- thx for any help- I will check back-

Oooh, I am so glad to see this post. I just came over here to this board today to ask some advice on the same camera (Canon PowerShot SX10 IS). I am thinking about getting one for myself, so I would LOVE to see some of your pics, and to hear what you think about it!

Why don't you check out B&H or Adorama. They are as honest as you can find and also offer ordering by phone. They are certainly more honest than your local Best Buy and most likely more so than a local camera shop. If they sel something as new, then it is new.

Thx so much! I have just had a chance to check back in on the suggestions- I really appreciate it!
I am going to check this out today-UKCatfan- I have seen many posts from you and you've given me great suggestions in the past on my newly acquired Canon EOS from my Dad (do you remember?) At any rate, as much as that camera is great for a DSLR officianado- It is really still too much for me- My dad said he would gladly take it back- I bought the advanced digital I really wanted and I couldn't be happier! So thx for everything
UGAfan- I will get some pics posted soon- I am still learning the "set up" of the camera and software- In between I have been taking pics on auto w/ an occassional shot w/ manual control- I am learning to do so many things! I will see if I can post a few of the pics later today-
The nicest thing I must say- w/ as many functions that the camera has, it is very user friendly, the auto set pics I have taken have come out great, and although I haven't printed any of them yet, I believe they will be wonderful!
The only thing that has become frustrating for me is the fact that I bought the camera at Best Buy and as I would like to use the pack and batteries that are suggested w/ the camera- these crazy local retailers didn't see fit to carry any other accessories meant for this camera! I do NOT want to use rechargeable Energizer batteries or Kodak for that matter- I just think it is utterly ridiculous to sell a product and not at least have basic accessories that go with it- It's not like this battery pack and batteries can only be used w/ this model- there is a very long list of models that the pack is compatible with...
Okay, rant over- I am going to check out the couple retailers listed and see how long it will take to get them here.

Moeluv4u7 - maybe I'm missing something, but I've got the Canon Powershot SX10 IS, and there is no "battery pack" that comes with it. It uses regular old AA batteries. Are you talking about the EOS? I'm confused? :confused3

For my SX10, I use Everready rechargeable AA's, and I just bought my first set of Eneloop batteries, and I really like them so far. :thumbsup2 If you can't find Eneloop batteries in the stores (I think I saw them at Ritz), you can order them from amazon.com.

I didn't know that it uses AAs. I suggest that you head out to Walmart or Target and get something like an Energizer or Duracell. The Canon brand will likely not be as good as them anyway. Canon does not make their own AAs and chargers. They simply re-brand someone else's and call it their own. Because they do not update their models like that very often, you are likely getting AAs based on a couple year old technology. So, I basically recommend against the Canon brand AAs. As for a charger, try to find one that uses a separate circuit for each cell. This prevents any cells from being overcharged and damaged. I have a Duracell that has this, but a popular option is the Maha Powerex for both charges and cells.

i did the same thing, even when i looked up the one canon sells and thought it looked like AA still thought it must be some special battery:) have you tried lithium...if you don't use your camera constantly they last pretty long. but i know i see rechargeable regular old AAs at target and walmart all the time. check back by the electronics sections if they don't have them in the racks by the check outs.
