Hi,

I received an email today from Canon asking if I would be willing to participate in a survey concerning their printers (with a chance to win one of their 750 cameras). As I used their link to access the survey and reading some of the caveats I started to wonder if this survey is on the up and up.
It seems as though they want to direct link to my printer program through Explorer to "read" about my usuage of the printer, i.e., amount of paper used, ink used, etc. I quickly left the site because I was afraid that this is some kind of hacker trying to get info from my computer.
Has anyone else received this survey? Do you think I did the right thing by quickly getting out of the site?

I doubt very seriously that a company like Canon would request access to your pc as part of a survey, but I could be wrong. I think you made the correct choice.

I don't know about that. A few years ago they set up direct access to my wallet and have been sucking money out of it ever since.:scared1:

That is nothing. Disney moved one of their accountants into my house so they can collect daily! :rotfl2:

:lmao:

however i take surveys all the time and occasionally a company does just what the survey said it did for a time period.. if you were hesitant, i wouldn't do it( or check it out by emailing canon) but i know neilson. NPO and some other survey/polling companies do it frequently

not knowing a ton about computer ins and outs i could be wrong about the way they can hack into your stuff but i would think by using the link you would have allowed them entry, and they wouldn't need to ask permission to do it.
