Canon S2

I found a good deal on a 1 gb card 133X. That wouldn't be too fast for this camera would it?

TIA

I just have the Canon S2 SI and I have a 2G Ultra SD Card for it. Now what about GOOD batteries..I have Enegrgizer NIMH AA(1.2V - 2100volts) rechargable batteries that are 4 years old. They do not seem to be holding their charge at all. So I am looking into getting new batteries. Can someone please point me in the right direction? I want GOOD batteries that are going to last their charge. I usually take over 600 pictures on a 7 day trip.

Thank you!!!

I use these Monster Powercells: Ultra-High Capacity 2100 mAh AA Rechargeable Powercells™

They last longer than the other two types of rechargeable batteries that I have.

I don't really know what the expectation of battery life should be - I always make sure I have extra extra sets when I am at the parks, but I used the Monster batteries all day at EPCOT on Friday approx 200 photos, and I think I changed them after a few additional photos at MK on Saturday.

Oh, great! I'd been deliberating between getting this one and the Nikon Coolpix P4 and finally decided on the Nikon. The Canon, especially at this price, is once again very tempting. Thanks for the heads-up, wscato.

Any thoughts from you more experienced types? My current camera (Fuji Finepix A210) has 3.2 mp, 3x zoom. I'm looking for something with more megapixels, and vibration reduction is a must. I'm not too particular about the zoom capability.

Just a warning...I "got" this deal the other week but the camera is backordered... I ended up cancelling my Dell order and getting it for around $304 from Best Buy (used a 12% off coupon & $45 in reward $ I had with them)

grrr, i am waiting for a bunch of web certificates i won to get this and of course they have yet to arrive....

Hi all ~

I am planning to order one of these cameras (I did see from another thread that the S3 IS was just released but I think I'm going to get this one.).

My company lets employees purchase items from Dell through the corporate account and then the company is reimbursed through the employees' payroll deduction for 3 months. An order is going to be placed next Friday so I have some time to think about it.

From other threads I've read it seems like this is a well-liked camera. True? If I do order this camera are there other accessories I should order? Like a battery charger, extra memory cards? Any other comments about this camera?

TIA!
Debbie

I have had the camera now for 3 months and I absolutely love it. I love the feel of it, the zoom, and the features (although I'm still trying to figure out all the manual stuff - with the help of my friends here on this board!)

My previous camera was a compact point and shoot, and I was happy with the photos it took, but this is so much fun.

You would probably want to purchase a battery charge and an extra set of rechargeable batteries. Also, extra memory (SD cards).

I also got a lens adapter - it's a tube that screws on to the camera body onto which you can screw a filter, this will help protect the camera lens, as well as help in some lighting conditions...... can you tell I am not real technical about all this stuff.

If you click on My Photos below, the majority since February have been taken with the new camera......

I am happy with my purchase, it was very much an impulse buy, from the reviews I read on this board, and I do not regret it in the least!

Thanks! I'm excited about ordering it. I have a cheapy no-name digital camera that doesn't work well. It hates bright sunshine and dark settings. The only time it works half way decent is inside with the flash.

I want to make sure I have a nice digital camera for vacation. And life in general too!

without even bother reading at your post, as soon as I read the title, my reflex is to write "yes, buy it, it's a good camera". LOL

I have had the S2 since last November, it is a nice one.

Read up here on batteries, chargers. I have the LaCrosse BC-900, it is great. Also, you want nickel metal hydride batteries.

Do check pricing, this is a good site.........

Dell prices are different based on which dept you buy from. Currently here, the home site is less costly than the business site.

Good wishes with your purchase. :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone. Even though I am a total photography novice I love reading this board and looking at all the wonderful pictures. There sure is alot of talent out there!

I'm sure once I get the camera I'll be posting lots of "how do you...?" and "what does this button do....?" questions!

So which mode do we use now? The S1 IS has the sports mode but the S2 does not. I tried to take pics of my sons gym show the other night (indoors), and most of them came out blurry. He was jumproping and hula-hooping, etc.............First I used auto mode, then I used night mode (since the low light), but I think I should have switched it to scene mode and picked "indoors", right? I didn't realize it had that until I looked at all of the scene modes after the fact. Anyone know the difference between "night scene" (one of the choices on the diopter) or "night snapshot" which is one of the choices after you choose "scene" from the diopter? And if I don't have a tripod, I shouldn't use fireworks mode, right? Just use night scene and no flash? Sorry for all of the questions.........my main question is what setting for sports shots/moving targets? Thanks a million!! We leave in 2 days!
