I will apoligize in advance if this sounds like a dumb question, but will a 1GB of memory work in my Canon S1 IS. I have 512MB but would like to purchase more for our January trip. Any help will be appreciated.

I have read others posting on this board who used a 1 GB card, however, I can tell you I have a few 512 mb cards instead of a 1 GB card, as I am a "don't put all you eggs in one basket" person (in case the card is corrupted/lost/stolen) and I don't use it to shoot much video (which is the major memory card hog). I used two cards on our last trip (over 600 pics).

Just a suggestion you may not have thought of.

Maybe we'll see you in January! :wave2:

I have a Kingston 2GB card for my S1 and it works just fine. Stay away from the Corsair, I had one and had to return it because it would constantly error. I called Corsair and they told me that it was not compatible with the S1. The Kingston is not supposed to work correctly, but it does in mine. Canon told me to look for moderately high speed cards and that the whole 60x-150x etc. were just too fast and the camera gets confused. Look around the 30x-40x range. I like the large size for movies, but I agree that it is not good to keep all of your eggs in one basket.

I have a 512MB card but I was a little worried that I would not have enough memory on it for all the pictures I want to take. I found a 1GB at Staples for $19.98 so I figured I would get it in addition to the one I have.

I don't have a clue about digital cameras :confused3 but I would really like to learn as much as I can so I can do some experimenting when we visit the world in Jan.

Yes, maybe we will see you there. Will you have your LMGHP on?? We will have ours, so keep at look out for us and don't be afraid to say hello!!

I purchased a Scandisk 1GB Compact Flash Card. Do you think this will work?

Sandisk is a major brand. I doubt there will be any problems. If there are, you should know right away.
