Anyone have this camera? I have an Olympus digital that has a horrible lag time. I am thinking of replacing it with this camera, but would like some imput. How much does it weigh? I carry my camera with me where ever I go and would really like soemthing light, but don't want just a point and shoot.
Thanks.

I have an Olympus E-10 and I am very pleased with. It is an older camera, but it works great for me.

You may be better off asking this at the photography board. They may be able to supply you with more information. :)

I had the original Rebel xT for several years and loved it, just traded it in on the newer Rebel xTi, and I love that one too. They're a little bit on the heavier side, but any DSLR will be as compared to a P&S. Not bad though. Both take excellent pictures, the xTi has a few more extra features, bu zero shutter lag on either one, batteries are a little pricy at $50-$60 a pop, but they last FOREVER, so all you ever need is two unless you're a pro or semi-pro who's going to be doing a major job. (But I've done weddings, and all I needed was the two.) Both take CompactFlash, which you can usually find cheaper than other media, and I would get at least a 1 GB card with either of these. As for carrying it everywhere you go, there are times when I do that, and I don't notice the extra weight all that much, just get a nice bag that you can sling over your shoulder, like messenger style.

I just bought the rebel XTi a couple months ago and I like it. It's my first slr camera so I'm still getting used to it. Anyway, I carried it around Denmark for 2½ weeks and it never felt unpleasantly heavy. Like the above poster said, get yourself a nice camera bag and you'll be good to go. It's a very popular camera and people discuss it a lot on the photography board. :)

Wow. I was surprised when this resurfaced. It's a pretty old thread. I bought this camera almost a year ago :)
I love it.
THanks.

I have the XT. The kit lens is ok if you have a lot of light to work with. You can get a 50mm f1.8 lens (for $80) that will do this:

but I also have a $450 lens (28-135mm zoom), used on this shot:

My other lens is about $550 (70-300mm zoom), used on this shot:

that was shot from this far away:

the guy on fire was about 20' farther away than the guy in the blue jacket.

The batteries do last along time. It is much heavier than a point and shoot style camera. But you probably decided on a cam already since this thread was so old.

I did buy this camera, almost a year ago :)
I love it.
Bought the 75-300 lens too:goodvibes works great....

I haven't quite mastered everything it will do but I am sure having fun with it!

I have an old (like 15 years old) Canon Rebel. Will any of the lenses or the flash work with the digital version?

We went from a film Rebel to a digital Rebel. The old lenses work just fine.

The only thing I found is that I needed a lower range lense. The 28mm- lens from my old EOS is more close up when used on the digital. It made it a little difficult taking pictures of the kids in the house when there was a couple of them in the room. For places like WDW I don't think you would notice any difference. My telephoto lens works great!

Thanks for the info! That's a question I'd been meaning to ask for some time, as I have a Rebel 2000 and have been looking to go digital SLR, especially since the prices have FINALLY started to come down to more reasonable levels!
