Canon PowerShot or Nikon CoolPix?

I'm leaning toward the Canon SD1100IS. DH likes the Nikon.

Anyone here have any advice on these? Which has better picture quality? Durability? Thanks so much!

Both Brands are good brands. It will really boil down to is it easy for you to understand and use. Play with each of them and see which one fits you better.

I have the Canon and love it. But since you're already sold on it, I'm not tellin' you anything new! Great little camera. Small enough to fit in a pocket or purse with an extra battery and SD card, and you're good to go for the day. Battery held a charge for about 1.5-2 days at Disney, using it all day long. Had over 500 pics on a 2GB SD card and wasn't anywhere near full. Very easy to use the basic features, but plenty of other features if you take the time to read about them. Love the image stabilization and face detection. In-camera red-eye reduction works OK, not perfect but good. 3x optical, 3x digital zoom is really nice.
