Canon EOS Rebel in Park???

Hi!

My DH wants to bring his Canon EOS Rebel with him to the parks. How difficult is it to maneuver with his camera bag/backpack in the parks on rides and such? If not, are the safes in the resorts large enough to hold the camera during the day?

I never had a problem but I don't carry around all the extra lenses and accessories. I just have the camera and a new card. I put it into the smallest case it will fit. I am certain I have kept it in a Disney safe before, out of the case of course.

Hello!

I brought my Canon DSLR on my August trip, but didn't take it to the parks everyday. Just 1 each at Epcot & MK. Some of the rides I went on had a place to store it (Soarin has a mesh bag at your feet, etc), the ones that didn't (if I recall BTMRR didn't have a place, but I might be wrong) I put my leg through the strap of my camera bag.

In regards to room safes, we stayed at Port Orleans Riverside, and the safe was NOT deep enough to fit the camera (front to back) even with the lens removed. Not sure if the safes are the same size throughout property.

Ditto to PP. And also remind DH he can always stow part of his gear (like maybe tripod or certain lenses for nighttime shots) in a locker to retrieve when he wants to use them. Don't have to lug it ALL all day if he doesn't need it.

My poor Sony DSLR has taken quite a beating (lost the eyepiece pad last trip--ow) in the parks but just keeps chugging along. Gallon Ziplocs are your friend

We bring our Canon DSLR every year and its really no hassle. Last year we brought an extra lens for the first time and it was no different. I usually carry it around my neck throughout the parks and if I need a break I'll just stick it in DF's backpack!

The safe in the rooms we've stayed at (CSR, AKL) have not been big enough to store our camera, or lens.

I have a Rebal with Tamron lens and usually have it slung round my shoulder and don't find it a inconvenience at all. the only thing I find annoying is the lens cap.

Yes, by all means bring that DSLR to the parks with you. You didn't buy it just to leave it in the box. You can't take great pictures of the parks if it never leaves your suitcase. Pull it out, wear it around your neck and use it often!!!

Disclaimer: I don't mean that to sound harsh. I do have days that I just don't bother carrying a camera with me. Some of those days I find myself saying "I wish I had my camera today".

Get him a good strap and he can wear it with great comfort. (I use Black Rapid and love it, but there are less expensive alternatives). I only put mine away on a couple of rides (RnR and Soarin). The rest of the time I'm trying to refine my on-ride photography skills.

My husband and I both bring our cannon camera each with a different lens and take turns swapping them back and forth depending on what we want to shoot. That being said we do not bring it every day. I hate always worrying about it and it does take a toll on the shoulder. We liked the rapid strap as well. My husband was a bigger fan of it than I was, but I did notice benefits, I think I just missed my Mickey Mouse strap

Thanks! I shot that at 1/30 f/5.6 ISO 100. I used my ultra wide angle lens set to 10mm.

DH carries the camera with him 99% of the time and I take the backpack. We switch the other 1% of the time. He wears the camera around his neck, that way it is always available. He loves to take pictures when we are on vacation, and we have found he is less likely to take those pictures if he has to haul the camera out of the bag each time he sees something that catches his eye, so he just wears it. It's probably not the safest mode of travel for the camera, but like someone else said, we bought it to use!
