Canon 400D (Rebel Xti, Kiss X)

On the more info on your shot, it says Device model: Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTI
Color space: RGB
Focal Length: 55
Exposure time: 2

:goodvibes

R u using the opanda program? Perhaps that was with the kit lens? I used my 70-300 most of the firework shots, but I must have switched at some point.

edit: downloaded the program and works great.

There are ways to get both but I shan't say any more: :teeth: :rotfl2:

I can't hear you! La la la la laaaaa!!!

I just recently purchased the Rebel for DD and the D40x for DH and I have to say just for ease of use and more keepers, I love the Rebel. So much so that I am considering getting a Rebel or 30D for myself. I currently have the S3 and there is no comparing the quality of the photos to the dslr's.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the Sony Alpha as opposed to the Canon Rebel? They are almost the same price and seem to (for the most part) have a lot of the same features.:rolleyes1

They are both very capable cameras, just like any DSLR. The best thing to do is see if one has a few features that are very important to you that the other lacks. If IS in the body is important to you for example, the Sony has that but the Canon does not. There is a better selection of new lenses for Canon, but there are many used Minolta lenses for the Sony. Basically, check the lens lineup to make sure what you want is available. Also, go out and hold them and use them before making a decision. On paper, I wanted a Rebel XT, but ended up with a Pentax due to the feel.

Hey, the Canon S3 IS club has 45 pages of posts from people shooting with that camera. I know a lot of us have the Canon Rebel XTi. We can do it, too...can't we? I'll post my very first picture I took with it(got it from Santa), and my very first favorite picture I took with it. I am VERY new to any kind of "do-it-yourself" photography, as my last 2 cameras were digital point and shoots. I would love to see what other people are doing with my camera!!!!

Ok, it's late, and I wasn't paying attention, can an administrator make this it's own thread, please?

I am still learning too. In fact I just signed up yesterday for a photography class this fall.

These are some from my first day out with it.

I'll join the club. I've had mine since June, and have a ton to learn. I've only owned point and shoots in the past, and so far am having lots of fun. I'll try different settings of the same pic, and then do auto mode, and most times auto turns out better. I'm hoping to take a course later this fall.

This is one of my favorites.

As you can see, my son is my favorite subject, though I'm taking more scenery and flowers than I've ever taken.

I went to the World in March and used my new Xti there. Here's a few samples of the results.... I was a happy camper & don't regret this investment! This is the first time I've tried adding pictures, so they may not show up! LOL!!!

I too used a film SLR for many years then used a digital point and shoot for a few years. This past Christmas my DH surprised me with the Rebel XTi, and I've been having fun ever since! Here are a few of my recent favorites.

Welcome, new friends!!! Looks like everyone is doing great with their XTi's:cool1: I think we can have a lot of fun here, keep sharing and if you do something really cool you can gloat a little to people who will understand. I'm leaving tomorrow to visit my Grandmother. She lives thick in the mountain in Virginia. Of course my Rebel will be in tow for the trip. There are a ton of great photo ops there. Hopefully I'll get some great shots. I'll post them when I return on Tuesday. Keep shooting!!

I also posted this on the Animals thread but am posting it here too. I had been watching this wren carry food to her babies for a week and thought it would make a good shot. For the past week either the light was bad or she was not feeding them when I was in the yard with my camera. Then yesterday I just sat down when she started carrying food back and forth. The lighting was good and I got about 20 shots. I like this one the best.

Add me to the XTI club! I'm also new to learning about manual exposure.

I got mine about 2 months ago, and here are a few of my favorites:
